  •  Me thinks it's time for a new update....maybe I should just shut this page down...and open face book like some ppl  (uh-hum, Miriam...) keep insisting.  But then I'd have to learn how to work a new "thing".  at least xanga is my comfort zone these days.  I'm so at home one never knows I'm here.

Anyway, since Mother's Day....ha.  How 'bout let's just say that right now Darla is very tired, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually,  from the summer and is ready for some quality, alone Darla time, which is right around the corner.  Yipeee.  I miss the summer staff , but life does move on.  Had a great team for the summer camps and God sure smiled down on BLC this summer.  Oh the things I learned....and the pain of learning...quite literally.  I'm now awaiting surgery to repair my completely torn acl (or was that aol, or lol...) ligament in my left knee and also to remove a piece of cartilidge that is not where it belongs but rather restricting movement.  Pray that it happens soon so I can begin to recover soon so that I can be active soon.  I'm learning that I don't so much like to be resticted physically.  I'm also learning lots of other lil lessons from my Father through it all.  For that reason, I can see good in the bad.

This here is a pic of some fine friends I surely do miss.  Maybe someday soon I'll do some more pictures. Now that would be a very "un-darla-like" thing to do.  But there's always a first.....

  • My mother is a very special lady!! Even tho she doesn't do xanga,

    HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY, MOM!!!

She is a gift to me from God. No, she's not perfect, but I find it extreemly difficult to find anything wrong with her!  I remember as a young lady, probably even a preteen, she'd be on her bed, ready to sleep and just enjoying a few quiet moments, and I'd show up, ready to talk about anything and everything, mostly nothing!  And she listened.  I rambled.  I asked her about that a few years ago, and she told me that sometimes she was really tired and just wanted to sleep, but knew that I'd be grown up and gone so fast, so she'd better just let me stay.  Awww. Warm fuzzies!  Thanks, Mom!!!  Cuz here I am, all growed up and gone away, for nearly 9 years now.  Wowzers.  We also used to sit and drink tea together.  Herbal tea.  I think she's disappointed I've taken such a liking to coffee and don't drink much tea anymore.  I remember the first time, over a cup of tea, that I admitted to her that I thot a certain young man was pretty nice...and such.  I was rather surprised how well she understood!!!

My mother taught me well to cook, clean, garden and that stuff. I enjoy it to this day, and credit her for any good I can bring forth from the kitchen.  I suppose I can also thank her that I don't sew much!!! She tried, that she did! But I always turned the project over to her and said "you do it while I cook supper!!!"  Therefore, I don't sew!

My mom also set a great example of loving others, and caring well for others.  Thank you Mom, for teaching me by example.  Sometimes as a kid, I groaned that we had to go do this for that person, but now, I see it as a learning experience.  She also is a strong woman, with determination and faith in God.  And one who has, and still does, remind me to TRUST GOD.  He is in control.

As soon as I "save changes" I'll think of a whole host of other things to say!  But, we'll leave it with this for now.  Thank you God for my Mother and for others we've been mother figures to me when I was away from my mom.
