Wowee...this is exactly the instrument I envisioned a while ago.  A tenor recorder with keys to make it playable in a three octave range, instread of the normal two+one whole step....  awesome!

Hey everyone!  Well, I must say the dobro is a fascinating concept.  I posted some links and info as a comment to my previous post.  Now, why won't someone find a way to mechanically amplify a viola da gamba?

Wow, it's been a long time since last post.

I'm sorry folks.  And apparently some of my friends do indeed visit this site, if only momentarily.

Well, I think I'll post perhaps in a couple days what's going on with me and Early Music here at school.

If any of you have any sort of early music question, fell free to post it here somewhere.  I'll then be forced to post immediately!!

I put out a questionnaire in the concert program, and what do you know?  It turns out that my Music History professor was there, and she wrote really good comments on the sheets.  I was really happy about that.

Of course, while the performance went as well as it could have, without any train wrecks, which was a miracle...thanks for praying, y'all!...the audience was about as large as the number of performers, which is to say, less than 20.  Not great.  I suppose the marketing dept. should have done a better job...that's me...but...

anyhow, I was happy Dr. Weiss liked it so much.  She's in charge of the musicology colloquiums here and it means a lot to me that she liked the concert.  She teaches about hist. of music from antiquity through the Renaissance, so...

(added later)  Wow, it's been a long time since I've really posted anything here.  Well, if anyone still visits this site...

And if anyone really does want to talk about early music, I'd love to discuss it.  ANything you like.  or in fact, just any topic at all wouldn't be bad. lol.

Howdy all!

Well, this is it.  The big day.  *sighs*  It's been a wild ride, y'know, from drafting the proposal, to submitting the proposal at the last minute, to writing a symphony and arranging a fugue...to finding musicians...to rehearsing...to securing a concert date...  and now, the concert.  In no more than 3 hours and 15 mins., we will be on stage.

And during those 4 months of my life, I've been wroking like nuts on this project, while also seeing NYC, Pennsylvania, Atlanta, etc. etc...  I've been up spiritually and down spiritually, happy and depressed, healthy and sick.  'Tis been an amazing ride.

So, how are all of you this afternoon?  HOpe all is well. And...I know, I haven't visited some of you in ages.  Thomas, Ashley, Karoline, well, actually, is there anyone I've been visiting regularly?!?  But I really would love to hear from you, and know how you're all doing.  But then, I ought to visit all your blogs for that! lol.  ;-P

But yes, I've been working with viols, oboe d'amores, viola d'amores, and other exotics a lot lately.  Finally, isntead of dreaming, I'm actually doing.  Isn't that cool?   But it's been tough, all right.
