| Little less than a month to go...Why must applying for college be such a stressful ordeal?

| | |
| The new Facebook browser blows my nose.
And I can't stop itching my leg.

So the first week of school was actually pretty good. Here's the general low-down:
1st period: AP English. Pretty boring, lots of hw, but Morley's quite friendly. 2nd period: Civics and Gov. Fairly interesting. Kyle is at his strange antics and dialogue once again. 3rd period: AP Calculus. Hands-down worst part of my day. 'Nuff said. 4th period: Lunch. Well, the cafeteria's always overpopulated with freshmen and other small people, so I end up going to the library instead. 5th period: AP Music Theory. Hands-down best part of my day. 'Nuff said. 6th period: Gym. Yay! 7th period: Free. Do whatever. Sweet. 8th period: Honors Physics 1. We do nothing. Gilgur's a cool teacher.
Other notes: -As a senior, I feel dominant. And it's a great feeling. :P -For some reason, I feel more grown-up now that I have a parking permit. -Although my schedule is still fairly rigorous academically and my college apps are due in November, I feel relaxed. At the same time, though, I've been studying/working my butt off since school started, so I feel stressed as well. It's almost like a Ying-Yang effect. Strange. -Apparently our football team lost their first game 64-0. Sad. -Fortunately, though, the girls' tennis team is currently undefeated, so good for them. I wish the boys' team could be that dominant. :/ -The librarians are uptight bitches (I hardly ever curse, but this time is a rare exception...sorry, God). For those of you who don't go to my school, you'd say the same thing if you saw them prowling their territory. If you don't sign in, they're immediately on your case. If you don't sign out, they do the same thing. They also get super-anal about any other problems that occur.
Random clam: -Thanks to the Genius application on iTunes, I found the Apostle of Hustle. Hooray for these rare times when I stumble upon amazing music! -I've been trying to find more indie/electronic music these days. Any suggestions? So far I've only scratched the surface, and I want to dig deeper. -I'm in the process of making my most epic piece to date. I need some more inspiration juices to finish the job. -The church back-to-school BBQ was awesome. -I need to play some tennis soon. -I still can't stop scratching my leg.
Peace, love, harmony, and brownies. Especially brownies.

...Unfortunately, the calm of the storm will soon pass.

Pros and Cons of Senior Year:
(+) -Senior status = feeling of dominance...somewhat. -Parking permit -Free period -Like-able teachers in general (except my calc teacher...*sighs*) -AP Music Theory. 'Nuff said. -18th birthday!!! -Voting (mostly because it's a "milestone" in my life...in reality, I'm quite apathetic about politics) -Prom...hah. -Almost done w/ ParHigh (NICE) -Legit driver's license coming in April -COLDPLAY CONCERT!!! :DDDDDDDDDDDD (Don't worry, Sarah, I'll pay off however much you need for your ticket) -Last tennis season = possibly epic?
(-) -Last year living in my room -Last year hangin' with NJ folks -College apps and such -AP Calculus. 'Nuff said. -Must poop out a crapload of compositions for my music portfolio by early November...and they can't be crap.
| I'm becoming worried about my chances of getting into NYU.

Gosh, thinking about college is so stressful.
| Cello, Ello, Ello, Eh, Eh, Eh......
After playing for about a month, I've come to love the cello with a passion. It is, in my opinion, one of the most elegant instruments in the world. When the bow slides gracefully across a string, a beautiful sound resonates through the air, and I am instantly delighted by the rich, deep, and smooth tones that are produced. Then, as the bow switches to another string, my senses become enhanced: I hear the wonderful reverberation of each note played, I see the cello's body shine underneath my ceiling light, I feel the vibration of the strings on my fingers, and I smell the polished wood and the metal of the strings mixed with the slight perspiration of my fingers. All of this amalgamates into an amazing moment that truly captivates me, and I become lost in another world that's filled with musical pleasure.....
......That is, only when I'm not constantly struggling to put enough pressure on the strings with my fingers, or worrying about keeping a loose grip on the bow, or trying to not shift my fingers to the wrong places on the neck, or thinking about my posture, or constantly changing my focus from my sheet music to the bow, or physically and mentally fighting the soreness in my hands and arms.......
.....Or just trying to correctly play the cello in the first place.
Nevertheless, I still love this instrument. While I currently suck big time (that's what she said :DDDD sorry, couldn't resist), I love the challenge of playing it. And in the end, I feel completely satisfied when I hear a lovely melody that took me almost an hour to play correctly.
The journey ahead is filled with struggle, but I will endure it. As many have said: "DON'T STOP THE MUSIC!"
