If marriage is such a powerful institution then the inclusion of ANYONE who wants to get married should have no real effect on it. Also, I hear people say that marriage is about procreation. Thats utter bullshit. What about people who cannot have children for medical reasons or simply choose not to have offspring? Should these people not be allowed to partake in marriage. Also, gays have children all the time. my mothers gay and well.. I exist. There are tons of gay parents, they adopt, they do artificial insemination, so the idea that gays dont procreate is simply incorrect and a fallacious basis for an argument. MARRIAGE IS NOT A RELIGIOUS INSTITUTION! Marriage is a LEGAL agreement having nothing to do with a church. Once you start bringing the ideas of a particular religion into the picture, you start messing with both separation if church and state [ and idea that i highly value] as well as freedom of religion, imposing your religious ideas onto a society founded on the idea that no one should have to practice a particualr religion. THAT DOSENT MEAN THAT YOU CANT HAVE YOUR OWN BELIEFS! Just let me have mine too. Just as you go to church, I should be allowed not to, because its up to the individual to decide whats right for them, not the society. The same goes for marriage and abortion and anything else. ITS NOT YOUR DECISION. When it comes to morals, the role of the government is to facilitate the people allowing themselves to make the decision that is right for them [within reason of course]. Thge role of government is NOT to prevent people from living their lives the way they choose. If you dont harm anyone while going about your life, if your living dosent impede someone elses' living, then you should not be persecuted or restricted by your government in anyway. Period. Thats it, people are people. Well i think I've ranted long enough.. oh and if you didnt get the gist, I'm FOR IT!
