What happens when Tenshi misses Shawn.
Her little fit went on for about five minutes. I'm pretty sure that's what she was upset about because she loves Shawn so much. It's really adorable to watch the two of them. When he's not around she's always rubbing up on his pillow, trying to claim him as her own. I think she was confused because when I stopped home earlier to change my clothes for a wedding we went to on Sunday afternoon, he was with me. When I came home later he had gone to rehersal and didn't come home with me.
We had a really awesome anniversary. Friday night we went to Schubas
and had dinner at the Harmony Grill, where we intended to see My Brightest Diamond play... We got the set time wrong and decided to go back to my apartment, since I live close to Schubas and we had some time to kill. We both ended up falling asleep and missing it, which I'm still sad about.
Saturday we headed up to Milwaukee for a nice dinner at a place in the Latin quarter of town and drinks at Hi Hat Lounge, which was awesome This photo was taken from the exact place I was sitting in the bar (but I didn't take the shot, I found it on google. Weird!)
We stayed over night at a nice hotel on the top floor with an excellent view of the lake and the art museum. Every time Shawn and I have gone to Milwaukee we've had such a wonderful time. It's such a nice small city with great places to eat and drink and fantastic architecture. Some of the beautful old gutted loft style apartment buildings are just incredible. I'd love to live there if I didn't love Chicago so much. Plus there isn't much of a music scene there anyway.
Yesterday we had to come back fairly early for a wedding on the 96th floor of the Hancock and we took in an amazing view. It was amazing to meet so many people that Shawn has known for so long. A lot of them will be at the couple's second ceremony in Mexico this January.
I unwound last night with a little bit of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." That Charlie...he cracks me up!
I almost forgot to post some photos from last week's halloween festivities.
The Inspiration 70's Cop, Bleeker, and Juno at my office Bleeker, Juno, The Economy, Construction Worker Cheetah Vampiress, Shawn, Bleeker, The Economy, Lisa Marie Presley Yesterday I celebrated two years with this wonderful man Unfortunately, he had to rehearse for a big show that's tonight so we won't be celebrating until this weekend. Instead I spent our two year anniversary with this wonderful man, who is always a good substitute. In this movie
Barack Obama is the President Elect of the United States and I couldn't be happier.
I was very fortunate to have gotten a ticket to the rally in Grant Park and I really can't even begin to describe the excitement and enthusiasm of every person I met. The crowd silently watched the results.
Obama won Virginia.
Breaking news bulletin, flashed CNN.
"Obama wins the presidency" in big letters on the jumbotron.
The entire park went crazy! I cried, hugged, high fived, jumped up and down, cheered.
While it was exciting to see Obama speak and be in that park, I think the greatest part of the night was leaving the park and seeing the sheer volume of people that came out in support. We walked from the Art Institute to the Chicago River in a mass of people cheering, smiling, dancing, singing, embracing...but all peaceful. Even the cops were having fun. There was no riots or fighting. (Outside of the Art Institute, near the exit/entrance to the rally)
People of all races just there hanging out and getting along. I felt like people were truly letting down their "urban walls" and just talking to everyone and anyone they could to share their excitement.
(People exiting the park by the Art Institute, in motion. Doesn't even grasp half of the amount of people that were there. I was standing on a planter, wishing I had brought my camera.)
I think this is the beginning of some very challenging and exciting times for America but I am excited and I am proud that this is my country. I am excited to see the world so excited for the changes in America and how we could finally elect a minority president.
If you had experienced what I did last night, you would have no doubt that this is a major turning point in history. You would have no doubts in Obama's ability to lead this nation.
Here it is. Obama's SPECIFIC plan for America. People can no longer say they have no idea what he is going to do for this country.
I watched this promotional video Obama released last night on live television and I cried. I was so proud of my country. Obama has helped restore more pride for this country in my heart. I am proud to be American and I am proud of the changes he vows to make in this country. I am proud of how the world may finally start viewing America differently, not as the selfish, war mongering, consumer whores we currently are made out to be in the eyes of a lot of the world.
He is not a Marxist. He is not a Socialist. He is not a Communist. He is not a Terrorist.
He IS a DEMOCRAT. (I am not a Democrat or a Liberal. I do not subscribe to any party but vote to choose the best man for the job.)
And you know what? I have a friend who has the last name Hussein, if you are so superficial to be afraid to vote for someone because their middle name is Hussein. Yes, these are the sort of idiotic comments I have been reading in the news today. Shocking, really, that people would state their bias based on a name alone. Read the news, read the news from a variety of places instead of just places like Fox News. Watch Meet the Press, Bill O'Reilly, John Colbert, Keith Olbermann. Read the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Time Magazine, Newsweek, read whatever you can get your hands on. Watch reports. Visit websites. Form your own opinion based on fact and what you read.
Another great one is that people are bashing Obama for holding a free event in Grant Park on election night. People are getting angry because the City of Chicago is paying for it. Well, news for you, Obama's campaign is paying for it. I'm lucky I was able to get a ticket and I'll be there with Shawn, celebrating or not celebrating. Either way, it'll be a moment I am proud to partake in.
I'm tired of all the smear emails I am getting from people. Do I send McCain smear emails? NO. Do I dislike McCain? Not at all. I think he's a wonderful man. I think he has some great ideas but I disagree with him more than agree with him based on my own personal principles and based on what this country needs. Do I like Sarah Palin? Yes. Am I terrified to see her potentially become the President of the United States? Absolutely.
When you get a smear email, research it. Look at the context it was taken from. Don't just believe hearsay.
