  • I've been in a whirlwind of activity...and now am contemplating my schedule for next semester as advising week is upon us. And I see that I have a mere four classes to take next semester to be finished with two degrees. I'm almost done with college.

I can't really fathom that right now.

  • We went to Double Play, a tuba/flute duo concert on Tuesday. They were fabulous. I was truly in awe as they played pitch perfectly huge works for band and orchestra--just the two of them! I was privileged to get to speak with the flautist afterwards--Amy Ridings graduated with a masters in flute performance from Oberlin. Heh. No wonder she's good. The tuba player, her husband, was blind, and brought his guide dog out on stage with him. I thought it was precious---the dog lay quietly while they played, only moving to put his paw over his ear when the lady played piccolo. That part was hilarious.

My piano lessons are going quite well, and Dr. Thomas-Lee wants me to move up to the next book in about two more weeks. She's pushing me on my technique work, as well as requiring me to learn flute accompaniments and hymns. It's fun and challenging in a different way than flute---I like the different learning level.

On Friday I went to the swing dance and had a blast. I love dancing with Stephen and Jeremy---mostly because they lead like they're supposed to.

After the dance, I went up to Stephen's apartment and we watched the first presidential debate and threw in our little comments as it went along. It was heaps of fun because Stephen and I basically agree on everything, politically speaking. And poor Jim Lehr...he's been moderating these debates for way too many years. I think he must be tired of them.

Yesterday was the Georgia Marble Marching Festival, and I worked for 15 hours with the videographer. It was a great job because we had to be set up right near the bands so I got to hear and see them all day long while working. Yay!! Half way through the day, Mrs. Land came out of the press box, and said that her dog had been inside since 6:30 that morning, and would I please take her car up to her house and let the dog out. She paid me $25 to do this--crazy woman!!! However, I didn't argue....to the house I went, and poor Dixie was so confused because I had the right car but I was the wrong person. Heehee. Dr. Gregory came by to check on us CMENC members working (we had about 20 throughout the day). The videographer was pleased with my efficiency and wanted to hire me for the next two festivals he's working. Heehee!!!!!

The biggest news of the week is that in December, Stephen and I are going to Chicago to the Midwest Clinic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dr. Gregory is amazing and wonderful and working out over half of the cost and I get to go to MIDWEST!!!! The reason Stephen and I are going is because we're both State Officers for CMENC and Dr. Gregory thinks we will be good representatives. I am beyond thrilled. Oh the concerts I will hear! The lectures I will attend. The cold I will feel. The snow I will walk in. The wind I will experience.  CHICAGO! In December! It will be magical. I'm beside myself with excitement.

  • I realised I had posted nothing since my summery post--and I've been in school for three weeks!! What can I say? I love love LOVE my apartment, and living with Tasha, and I love all my classes. I only have 17 hours which is a huge blessing compared to my 23 + recital last semester.  I'm working on Fridays at a middle school band and still doing work study. And that, my friends, is basically my life. Classes, practice, rehearsals, homework, teaching. And I musn't forget fun times hanging out at my apartment with people. And the new practice of going to church with my friend Stephen. It's so nice not to have to go to church alone.

It's the greatest life ever. :)
