A Long Overdue Update

Sorry it's been nine months since I posted. I had a really good semester in the fall. I got an A in organizational behavior and a B in human resource management. That made me really happy, because that is the first time in a while I have had a a GPA of 3.5 for the semester. Last semester I got an A in business communications and a C in advanced Microsoft office, which would only be a 2.85 for that semester. In a couple of weeks I start school again. I'm taking supervision and astronomy. I'm really excited about them because I think they will both be fun. For supervision I will be having the same teacher I had for both of my classes this past semester.

Update on School

I gave my presentation today in business class. It was about the role of adminisatrative assistants. Everybody has to give a career presentation for the next week. Today it was me and two other guys. I believe the last presentations are on next Friday the 20th. I got an A on the last business test we got back on Wednesday. So far I've gotten all A's on the business tests, although I've gotten mostly B's on the written assignments.

Right now in computer class we are studying Access. It seems so much easier than Excel. I didn't even pass the SAM test for Excel. I hope I will do better on the Access SAM test. For some reason the passing score for the Excel test was 70%, and I only got 60%. It's a little strange, because the passing score for the Word test was 60%.

Homework and Tests

I got back some papers in computer class. I got A's on all of them except for one. For two of them I got 46 out of 50 points, for one I got 47 out of 50 points, and on another one I got 42 out of 50 points. We had a SAM test on Wednesday and I got an 83% on that. The SAM tests are a lot harder than regular tests, because they are timed and you don't have as much time to look it up. Plus the tasks are much harder too. We had a regular test today.

I also got an A on the first test in Business 130. That one was a little hard, especially the essay questions at the end. But I only got 4 wrong out of 46 so that was a 96%. Right now I am working on some exercises from Chapter 6. The first three are really hard, because I have to revise some letters to make them look like more effective messages. The exercises are due on Wednesday, and we also have to write some memos and letters which are due on Friday the 23rd.

Spring Semester Classes

My classes for the spring semester started on Wednesday. I have the same instructor for Advanced Microsoft Office that I had for Microsoft Word, but it's in a different room. For my Business Communications class I had to write an introductory paper that was a page long, which I turned in yesterday. The teacher wanted us all to write papers introducing ourselves. I think I'm really going to like DPR 111. It is supposed to be like the second course after DPR 100, and it covers all the same programs; Word, Excel, Access, and Powerpoint. Right now we are working on Word project 4, which is the first project in the book. For some reason they all start with project 4. I guess it's because this course is supposed to be the continuation of where we left off in DPR 100.

Update

Well it's been a while since I've updated. I've been working a lot so I haven't had time for it like I used to. All this week I've been working night shifts (2-10 p.m.). Next week I will also be working from 2 to 10 p.m., except for Thursday and Friday when I have off. I always have off on Friday's. Besides cashier work I also do returns, organize shelves, and vacuum.

I had my math final two weeks ago. I think it's very possible I got an A on it, but I think I only got a B in the course. I got A's on all the tests in math, but I didn't do very well on the hand-in assignments. I also didn't do very well on one quiz. I regret doing that because I know I could have done better. Next semester I'm only taking two courses because I'm working now in addition to going to school. For the spring semester I'm taking Advanced Microsoft Office and Business Communications.
