Name: Pauline Birthday: 12/4/1983 Gender: Female
Interests: Bowling seems to be an ever occurring fad for me, but rarely do I ever get a strike. I do enjoy working out and laying in the sun, but the laying in the sun part is just so much easier for me :) Talking on the phone is always a fun thing for me, but I'd rather hit up a coffee shop and read a good book, like Psalms or Proverbs. Expertise: I'm becoming quite the expert at being a Christian, yet more times than not I find myself batting in the minor leagues... Occupation: Professional missionary, altho

| Impossible Germany/ Unlikely JapanSo last weekend was a blast. I went to a Cubs/ Reds game in Cincinatti. I got to go onto the field, met the guy whose dad invented the slinky, met Barry Williams (a.k.a Greg Brady from the Brady bunch), watched the Cubs win with a couple of homers, and had an awesome time with some friends. It wasn't as crazy as I thought it would be, but it was most def. a ton of fun. Then I applied to and got accepted for a fulltime teller position at one branch in Lafayette, with a raise--yay! Very scary seeing as I've been floating for about a year now, but I was ready for a change so hopefully I'll be set for a while. Now I even have my own keys and a drawer. Weird. I babysat a ton this past weekend and hung out with a lot of people. I'm moving this coming weekend into my own apartment. That'll be way ridiculously awesome...and expensive, but I'm ready to be on my own for a while. I don't think in the future I'd be able to get married until I knew what it was like to live by myself. True story. It's also really hard for me to get through the weeks right now because of all this change going on--work, living arrangements, buying and paying for lots of things I've never needed before, getting prepared for my Turkey/ Greek Isles trip. It's a lot of stuff all at once and I'm kind of on overload right now, but I have this feeling that things are about to calm down and get better very soon. I really super miss my friends and the internship I finished up in May. Second to accepting Christ that internship was the best thing that's ever happened to me. About a year ago next weekend I'd be moving into my host family's house, but instead it'll be into my own place with no secure classes to be had quite yet. I'm tired of a lot of things right now. Wanting changes with some things but not with others. This adult world is not as promising as one might think.....And I have a very large bruise on my left foot. It looks like an elephant stepped on me :( | | |
| the B sideSo basically, this has been one crazy week. Sunday night the Jr. high kids had a water wars and we threw balloons and soaked each other all night. 2 s'mores and a marshmellow later and I was wiped out. Monday started a long and grueling work week, at least in the sense that I've witnessed more greed, lieing, and adultery this week than I ever have in my entire life. Ridiculous. Tuesday night I had a meeting with some Mormons. Awesome. I think I'm gonna call the Mormons in the area here to get my free Book of Mormon and try to meet some Mormons in the area. They're interesting folk. Last night I went to the fair with my host family. We ate a lot of fair food, met some animals, saw some home ec stuff made by a couple of kids from another host family. Very sweet. Today I'm getting the feeling that work's gonna get more interesting in the next month or two, for the better maybe. I'm kinda looking for a change. I've been house, dog, cat, and fish sitting for two weeks now, a little more than that actually, and I finish up tomorrow night. Awesome. I'm tired of taking care of other peoples stuff and live creatures. I need a break. This weekend I'm going to Cinci with a couple of coworkers and their friends. Should be interesting. One of my coworkers and his "band" are singing at the Cubs/Reds game. Oh, and I'm missing a Buffet concert and trip to Cinci tonight because of stupid work. I coulda had a drink in a guitar shaped cup. $10. Whatev. P.S. there's not enough time in the day or week to get done everything I need to get done, especially since I have to freakin' work all day every day for 40hrs. a week. Awesome. Oh, and here's a verse from Galations I memorized this week. Galations 5:1-2 maybe. I forget exactly.... "It was for freedom that Christ has freed us. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." At least that's what I think it is. Time for bed. | | |
| what i got (the un-sublime version)You know, every day I learn something new about this world and the people living in it. So I think it's high-time to let you all in on some more things I've learned about the world around us..... 1) People are hungry for real truth, not just something everybody accepts and thinks is okay. An individual group might not be hungry for truth, but the individuals within a group generally are. 2) Tolerance may not be accepted, but apparently acceptance is. Guess what, they're the same thing. 3) Philosophy and religion seem to be all the rage. I think philosophy and religion create rage. Why not seek a relationship? 4) Kids model what they know. If someone acting like a child trys to take care of a child it's a recipe for disaster. 5) A lot of people favor different personalities or mindsets around certain people and situations. I say get rid of the front and let down the wall. Nobody fools everyone all of the time. 6) People are very confused and misguided in this world. Sometimes it just sucks to have certain experiences or reactions to some situations. 7) Some people say they don't necessarily expect people to like everything they do but they do expect people to respect everything they do and all of their choices. People should always be respected because they are people and are made in God's image. It's not often decisions themselves are worth respecting. 8) You can't fake a good lifestyle or solid values. Either you have them or you don't. 9) Every person deserves the love of God, but not everyone is likeable. 10) Having a relationship with Christ is a life well lived. You can't live a life well without Christ. I'm in a tough spot right now. It's easy to remember these things here, but in the real world the focus is hard to keep. I wish people were more willing to seek truth and to truthfully seek the will of God. | | |
| sunrise in a sagaI'm currently working on a top ten list of why banking is better than college. I really don't think it is, but I thought it'd be funny to make the list. Let me know if you have any thoughts on this topic... It's been a long, long time since I've written on this thing, but so much has happened that I really just feel like writing about it. Let's just roll on with the last month or two. Here's what I've learned about the world.... *People are generally so concerned about themselves, their reputation, and how they appear to others that they're too busy to worry about you or me, so it's pointless to worry about what others think about us or how we need to mold to other's images of us. Nobody else actually cares. *People are afraid of what they don't know and very confused by what they don't understand. Don't let their fear or confusion scare or fool you. *People are always watching you, whether you realize it or not. Everything you do, think and say matters, so present yourself in a way that will make a positive difference. *Many individuals believe they are the center of their own world. Shocking, I know. And many of them are, but deep down they really don't want to be. *Everybody is always trying to be like someone else. You wanna stand out, start going against the grain and be to someone what they don't expect. Sometimes peoples lives need to be shook up a bit. *Everybody wants to plan out their lives. Nobody has the right to plan out their lives. We're not even guaranteed tomorrow, so first and foremost we need to deal with today. *Some people genuinely want to be leaders, but nobody can be a leader without being a follower. *This world is not the way it's supposed to be, so people try to make it what they can. Why aren't more people seeking to find out what the world is really supposed to be? My head hurts. Time for bed. Feel free to add to this or answer any questions that you please.... | | |
