| Yesterday the Celtics held their championship parade through Boston. In the morning, I was quite bummed that I'd have to miss it since it started at 11 AM and I had to be at work. But as luck would have it, just as I was leaving the student center after eating lunch, I was about to cross Mass. Ave. with the pedestrian walk sign chirping when police sirens approached. Then came the green duck tour boats with the Celtics players, coaches, staff, ownership, etc. rumbling down the road. I saw KG in sunglasses with a hand on the trophy (that thing's HUGE!); Ray Allen waved back at me when I waved to his boat (there was only a very small crowd at the crosswalk); I saw Big Baby Davis hanging off the side of the last boat topless.
For a crazed basketball fan like me, seeing my first championship parade (for a team that I support) was priceless. I'll always remember this day and I'll always remember their incredible playoff run. Much like how old people talk about the days of Bill Russell, Havlicek stealing the ball, and Larry Bird whipping his towel in his short shorts, I'll be able to talk about Paul Pierce outdueling Lebron James in Game 7, KG's crazy off-the-backboard line drive, the 40-point ass whooping of the Lakers, and witnessing their celebratory ride.

| Wow, Xanga looks so foreign after a year-long hiatus.
Goals for the summer: 1. Have fun with my summer UROP (I'll be working in the MIT Media Lab Center for Future Banking on a project to create a visualization software to monitor delinquent bank accounts) and make something substantial. This probably won't be too hard as long as I work on it all summer.
2. Exercise 6 days a week. Specifically my plan is a) Upper body work 3 days a week b) Lower body work 3 days a week c) Cardio and crunches 6 days a week. (The abs are starting to show already. ) d) Swim on the weekends if the Z-Center lets me in. e) Play sports with my friends (basketball most likely), do sprints and jumping exercises. Ideally I want to gain about 20 pounds of muscle mass from the workouts, which isn't too outrageous, since I've already gained 10 pounds from really inconsistent weight lifting with my roommate Dan throughout the year (and I still can't spot an ounce of fat on me)
3. Complete Dan's homework assignment that he gave me for the summer: play through Zelda Ocarina of Time, Donkey Kong 64, and Kirby: The Crystal Shards.

| I have no complaints about the series. Dallas just refused to hustle, refused to attack the rim, and either the coach failed to realize what worked / didn't work or that the players refused to listen to the coach. The referees (for the most part) missed the same number of calls for both sides. There's nothing I can really complain about. Maybe it's actually good for me that Dallas lost. Now I can try to focus on my classes and getting 10+ hours of sleep a day. Yeah, I should stop putting off studying for a test tomorrow. | | |
| Dallas has only themselves to blame so far. From game 1, not starting their normal centers was a concession that they'd play GS's style. Diop and Dampier are the only real defenders on the team with their help defense. Dallas can't take them out and still expect someone to be protecting the rim when the first defender gets beat. On offense and defense, they just look uninspired, waiting for someone else to go to the ball or to close out on a shooter and consistently get out-hustled. There were spurts of good intensity, but they're just not playing like the same team in the regular season or last year's playoffs. Dallas still has yet to take advantage of GS's biggest weakness: their lack of size. Dirk tries to post up, but gets fronted and he just ends up sliding into the corner. Dallas keeps playing into GS's advantages: their quickness and the physical strength of their guards. However, this series is far from over. If Avery Johnson can realize what this team has consistently failed to do for 4 straight games, I know this is still the Mavs's series for the taking. As a side note, why is Greg Buckner always being touted as a "hard-nosed defender who can guard just about anybody?" All I've ever seen is him getting burned by whomever he's trying to guard. | | |
| I get very hungry every time I work on 18.03. Invariably, equations will turn out to have an eat term. It's even worse when they're all over the page on the problem set. It's like my paper's trying to tell me something! I also find it hilarious when there's the term teat. | | |
