| This is a message from my brother, please read (not a joke). Please, just take five minutes out of your day to do this. It would mean a lot to my brother as well as me. Let me know if you actually do this so I can just know if anyone is doing it. Also, PLEASE send this to people on your email list and livejournal. I do believe in the power of mass emails and this could really help my brother out. (grassroots effort)
Joe: I am currently enrolled studying Spanish and Cultural Studies & Sustainable Development in Latin America at Prescott College in Prescott, Arizona. My university in the spring of 2005 cut Latin American Studies program by 100%. Myself and other members of the Aztlan group of my school attained a petition of 300+ alumni, students, and faculty in only 1 day!
But I feel that this may not be enough...
I need your help! Here is what you need to say to the dean & president of Prescott College when you call... "I feel that Prescott College, need hire a a Latin America Studies faculty at Prescott College. Hiring a faculty will allow students to study Latin America"
Dean .. 928-350-2001
President .. 928-350-4100 ......fax .. 928-776-5126
It is very important that you do this, it will help myself and other students who lack a Faculty for our education. It will only take 1minute of your time, if the Dean is not available please leave a message and call back until you specifically talk to the dean.
YOU MUST ALSO FORWARD THIS TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW AND CONVINCE THEM TO CONTACT PRESCOTT COLLEGE!
Thanks, Joseph McElligott
| (Some thoughts going through my head the past couple of weeks)
I am tired of having a "political" stance, being "liberal" or "conservative". There's more to life then politics and being categorized in to some box. I have just become disheartened with associating with politicians. This weekend I went to a political forum and it just made me realize how full of junk some of these people are. I am passionate about some issues I suppose. Over the past week I have just continued to have hope and do what I can with what time I do have. I want to help people and that's why I did some changes with academic plans (if you don't know, I don't plan to divulge here). Perhaps I'm naive, but I think education is where I need to be.
I am not sure if college is just wearing me out or what. In the past month or so I've just become numb concerning hot topic issues. If someone does want to talk it's usually to argue and not have an actual conversation. (Two things I stay clear of - yelling and arguing) It’s usually arguing about “yes” or “no”.
Recently I have just wanted to strip myself of all these layers of what I try to be and what I want to be. This evening in mass Fr. Rick was talking about just listening to silence. That a person should try at least 2 minutes a day to listen to silence. Twas beautiful. I'm learning to be break down the walls I put up and just be me.
I think I want to move somewhere, I don’t know where. Ireland sounds gorgeous.

5 things I cannot do: 1.cartwheel 2. draw well 3. wear really high heels (comfort first) 4. play guitar (working on it) 5. fold clothes well
5 things that attract me to members of the opposite sex: 1. trustworthy 2. chivalrous 3. intelligence 4. humor 5. honesty

5 people I want to do this: 1. no 2. one 3. unless 4. you're 5. bored
| skoo I went on an awesome retreat this weekend.
It was a nice break from the monotony of school and homework.
speaking of school, classes are up! At the current rate I'm going to take General Psychology, American Dilemmas, Persuasion, History of Photography, and Interpersonal Communication. This will be a nice break from this semester's 18 hours and two classes to TA for.
Studying abroad for the summer! three months! Again. I am really really oooober excited because it will be a break from school kind of (plus getting to know the language and culture). I'm thinking Chile? or anywhere in S. America that has a three month spanish program.
Oh. I have a job for sure over the thanksgiving and christmas break working at the bread company! no life! wooo! (the kind of funny part is...I'll probably make more doing that for less then a month then I do for a semester with my RA stipend). no complaints though.
word to your mama.
Keep me updated on your life. I want to hang out with people I haven't seen in a while, (Kalee *amy's?, jessica -so I saw you last week, you can never have enough jessica-, I forget who else is on my friend list,...tara I see you everyday...that's all I can think of at the moment)
Oh! Visiting my brother in Nov! Rock!
