I've been packing my bag and planning my route for the past month. I've gone back and forth between packing electronics and gadgets like GPS, ibook, cell phone, ipod, and a digital voice recorder versus taking just a tarp and a pair of sweats. I really want to learn what it is to suffer and be alone in the wilderness. Suffering is like lifting weights for the soul. However, I don't want to die, so I am taking provisions like a weather-rated sleeping bag, tent, hiking shoes, matches, flashlight, etc. I tried to find a place in between hobo and James Bond 007 without the term hiker, because hiking is what Boy Scouts do, I'm not a Boy Scout.
