| Time to move on?Dear Family and Friends, Sara and I (Abraham) are writing
this email to request your prayer and support during this time of
decision and possible change in our lives. For some time now, we had
considered moving to Tucson,
among other places. At those times it was usually a playful discussion
of our desires. However, it has now grown to a full-fledged
possibility. Due to a number of circumstances, we have decided to give
it more serious thought and a whole lot of prayer. And we are asking
God for guidance on this matter. More specifically, to reveal to us
whether we should stay in Phoenix or move to Tucson.
We have given this careful thought and consideration. We are
praying that, while we hope for one thing, that God will give us the
courage to accept His will. We have been trying to ask the right
questions through this process. We want to make sure that our hearts
are in the right place and that we are at peace. Some of the
questions we are asking are : Is it okay not to minister but to be
ministered to (for a short while)? Is it okay to live in a safe haven
(city of refuge) for a little while? Is this (staying or going) a God
given vision? Is he going to show us/tell us where to go or is He
letting us choose? Are we running away? While we don't
expect to get an answer from all of you, we also know that God speaks
through His people and through examples. So if there is some
experiences that you want to share, we would love to hear from you.
However, we have chosen to make it our decision, not what other people
are telling us right now. We love all of you but everybody does have
their bias. Even if you don't have something to share, we really need
your prayers right now more than anything! If you would like to know
more about our reasons for considering this move, please feel free to
ask. During this time, we are trying to be as open to God as we can be,
so that we do not have hidden intentions.
Thank you so much for your prayer and love. We love you all so
much! We hope to hear from you soon. We will continue update you during
this process! Abraham & Sara | | |

| "Dear Abe" (2/06/07) - Biased Questions and a Cliff Hanger! Dear Abe,
I'm a senior in high school who is so excited about graduation and also excited about going away to college. My parents would like me to get involved with a Christian group when I go to college but I am really nervous about meeting new people. I'm afraid that Christian groups are going to be weird or crazy. Could you tell me what I can do or where can I go to meet Christian people and try to find a good Christian group?
- Ready to Fly
Dear Ready to Fly,
You are asking a biased question because I was part of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at the University of Arizona. You don't mention where you are going to school so I am not able to give you names of people and groups I know of. Let me tell you that you can find a suitable group for you. Not all Christian groups are created equal and before you decide on a group over the other you should try as many as you can. That is not to say that you have to pledge loyalty to a single group but when you focus only on one community there is more chance for friendships to grow. You should begin your search by attending orientation meetings at the school you will be attending. Schools usually have these kind of fairs where they have all the clubs come out and meet incoming students. I will also recommend asking the people in charge of student life at your school to give you a list of churches nearby. There are some "big names: out there among the student fellowships like InterVarsity, Campus Crusade, Navigators, Ambassadors for Christ (in some cases "ambassadors" is changed with the school mascot) and even Young Life. I would suggest you go to their websites and see if something strikes you. I personally love InterVarsity but I have met so many cool peeps from other fellowships that it would be crazy for me to say... IV is the best! In fact, that would be stupid! Different fellowships serve different sections of the student population. Oh, I almost forgot that there are some ethnically based fellowships like Asian Bible Fellowship, La-Fe (Latino Fellowship/IV), and Native American Fellowship. So the best thing you can do is just poke around, meet people and enjoy the journey. And yeah, why not say it... visit InterVarsity... you may end up liking it as much as I did!
Dear Abe, Who do you think is going to win the Mexico vs. US soccer match to be held February 7th?
- British Footy Player With Nothing To Lose.
Dear British Footy Player, Are you trying to start a war here man? Why do you ask me? There is a little bit of venom oozing from my fangs for the US Team since that tragic day in 2002 when the US beat Mexico during the World Cup. You should ask yourself or my Jewish friend Brian; neither of you have anything to lose over this game. Honestly many people are torn over who to cheer for but as for me I will always pick Mexico. I want Mexico to win and if you are willing to hear my reasons here is why: * This is more than a game. Pride is on the line. The US doesn't have much to lose or at least it seems like it. For Mexicans, it would be an insult to lose to the US. This game comes after a very heated "immigration debate" where the millions of undocumented immigrants want to show the US the they are needed in this country. After being mistreated and slammed with anti-immigrant laws (and anti-human I'd say), this game must be won to honor the more than 12 million immigrants who live in this country, most of them Mexican. * The US Soccer team has been bragging about how excellent their soccer can be. Honestly they need to catch up with their tongues. Yes, you could beat Mexico or other teams in the COMEBOL (the region Mexico and the US belong to) but in order for you to say you are good you have to be able to play and win or at least tie against soccer squads like Brazil, France, Italy, Germany and others. * Mexico needs to defeat the curse, they have not scored agains the US in US soil in this decade! * Did I mention the political overtones that this game has with this whole immigration mess that we are in? * After a few years of waiting and living under the shadow of ex-coach Ricardo Lavolpe, the opportunity finally comes for Hugo Sanchez who is one of the greatest Mexican players of all times. His first game against the US could make him or break him and most Mexicans would agree with me: We want to see Hugo lead El Tri (the Mexican National Team) for a long time!
So British Footy Player... pick your side and remember that for some of us this is more than a game!
Dear Abe,
What is this rEVOLution thing that you have been talking about?
- Equal Opportunity Lover in Mesa
Dear EOL, The rEVOLution.... well, I can't tell you yet but don't worry, I'm not going to kill anyone or ask people to rise against anyone in a violent manner. Well, maybe it is in a violent manner but maybe not physically by using weapons. As you can tell, the details of the rEVOLution are barely coming together and you shall know what the rEVOLution truly is really soon. In the meantime, you should listen to a couple of songs so you can get hints of what the rEVOLution is: -"Wedding Dress" by Derek Webb -"Where is the Love?" by The Black Eyed Peas -"Revolution" by Rojo

| The rEVOLution is coming.... espérala!!!
Also, since now I have internet access at my house a new column of "Dear Abe" will be coming out every week on Mondays (until I get a new day off at work!). So keep sending your questions via email, phone or Xanga. If you sent a question in this last month I might still use it for the coming columns! It's so funny that this started as a joke but now people take it seriously! I mean they are sometimes silly questions but other times I've had serious questions. If I get a serious question I will never give out the name of the person and I will change the situation and if this is a question that I cannot tackle I will honestly say I cannot answer or I will invite someone to answer it (or refer to someone!). Anyway.... I also gotta say that by no means I'm saying that I'm a therapsit/counselor/psychologist/etc! Don't take my advice as the final word... unless you are asking for my opinion on something that I'm knowledgeable on like soccer, MMA, music, Spanish, food and eating or The Simpsons! Anyway, so in other news... married life is pretty good! This month Sara and I have been hiding away because it is a really weird feeling living with each other (pay attention Amanda! ) and getting used to our "living patterns." This month has been an adventure that we both love going through. We heard that the first couple of months would be hard and to a certain extent it has but I compare it to wanting to be the UFC Heavy Weight Champion; I would do whatever it takes to get there plus I am really enjoying it! Something takes effort is (most of the time) worth having!
Well peeps, that is all for now but you shall hear from us soon.... and by that I mean me on this column and the REVOLUTION Team!
