  We're ENGAGED !!

married

I just got back from San Deigo, and I am engaged.

I had a feeling it would happen on this trip, but I wasn’t quite sure how it would all go down.  I am not an easy person to surprise, but Teddy succeeded and gave me a “world-wind” proposal.

So how did it happen?

Early Saturday morning, Teddy knocked on our hotel door – and asked me to go to Barnes and Nobles with him to pick up the Harry Potter book.  (He’s cool, I know)  Anyways,  I was pretty grimy (no shower at all)  – so I was hoping to God that the proposal would not happen now because after all who would want to get proposed to when they are stinky and dirty.

About an hour later we came back to the hotel, and well nothing happen.  So we both went to our separate rooms.  I spent the next hour doing girl-talk with the ladies, and Helen receives a phone call saying … the guys wanted to go to beach soon, and told me to go take a shower.    So, I did.

When I stepped out of the shower, there was a box and a dozen calla lilies on the floor … that read “Lets take a walk”.    I was so surprised that I rushed back into the room to tell the girls what I got, but to my surprise no one was there.    (so this was it)

I opened the box, and found the most beautiful white dress.    I put it on, and met Teddy outside.  We went for a walk on the beach when we first encountered the 1st batch of calla lilies on the beach.  Each stem had a reason for why he loved me.  I teared immediately.     And, thought that this was it, but again to my surprise … he had tagged a 100 calla lilies all over the beach.

After reading each one and wondering when this will all end … we finally got to the last calla lily.   We couldn’t find the tag, so he told me to go look for it.   When I told him, I couldn’t find it, he brought the last tag out of his pocket (attached with the ring), and asked me to marry him.

The proposal was perfect, and special to say the least.  We had agreed not to say “I love you” until we were engaged, so after over a year of waiting … we were finally able to say how we felt.

I am so thankful that some of our closest friends were able to witness this event, even happier that it was all documented, and so grateful that Teddy’s sister and my best friend could make it out to celebrate this time with us.

And, plus … he got me a SLR camera that I’ve been wanting for FOREVER.  Im lucky.

edit: yesterday, teddy gave me the BEST present ever.

for about 6 months (prior to dating), we had spent a ridiculous amt of time emailing with one another.   what can i say, we REALLY know each other.  anyway, he created a book containing all of our emails from Nov (2005) - April (2006)... right before we started to date on May (2006).

800 Pages of likes, dislikes, life stories, struggles, my infamous hypotheticals all resulted

in OUR story.

 teme

It is important to remember that, more than they can possibly imagine, they are unconsciously drawn to precisely that person who possesses the attributes the other needs to be affected by in order to change. These are the very qualities which, because of their capacity to irritate and inspire them, will encourage in them the very dimensions they lack, the qualities which, as they acquire them, will represent an enlargement of the soul.

What this means, simply, is that in spite of themselves they will will be drawn into a process of personal evolution.Whatever is missing in their character will gradually be developed and what is remarkable about this transformation is that in the end, rather than feeling bitter, resentful, or unwilling, they will come to see the acquisition of these attributes as an exquisite refinement of their own spirits.

..sometimes you just know.
