| Going dark for the next 40 daysI'll be back August 18; will miss you all during that time, but it's necessary for me to pare down all distractions, for I'm on a special mission. May the Lord, God Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and the Rock of our salvation, be your portion; may His face shine upon you and may you seek Him, for He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Today's scriptures are: Job 35-37 and Acts 14 "And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit" Acts 13:52 | | |
| CELEBRATIONToday is my birthday! Went to see WALL-E with my daughter, daughter-in-love and our friend Dee; sat beside another friend hadn't seen in a while and her kids (that was a surprise). Bought a new purse. Am now readying for dinner out and another movie with DH, this time Hancock. Hancock was pre-approved by DS for maternal viewing. WALL-E highly recommended: those Pixar people have done it again! There's even a great cartoon at the beginning reminiscent of Warner Brothers. Am enjoying the cards, e-cards, phone calls and indulgences by loved ones. Feeling very thankful today, for the goodness of God. So, all you Xanguins, I raise my Coke Zero to you and say, Thank You, Father God, for another year! Today's chapters are Job 31, 32 and Acts 13 | | |
| DONEFinished the last of wheat harvest yesterday, July 3. Hallelujah! Had a party last evening for all personnel and was loads of fun: pizza, watermelon, football in the yard and Catch-Phrase in the house. Another party day today, with the Fourth: Happy Birthday, USA! and tomorrow, my own birthday. I'm sleepin' in! Then going to see Hancock with DH and dinner out: no more sack lunches! No more scratchy chaff in my undies! No more dust cough and backache from driving trucks! It's IN THE BIN~ till next year. Today's readings are Job 29-30 and Acts 12 | | |
| Long Day DoneWe took a big bite out of the elephant today (How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.) Weatherman is predicting rain tomorrow evening so we've been cutting wheat like crazy; all went well. Thanks all for praying. Farming is like working all year to be paid once or twice during that year. You just gotta get that crop in! After bringing dinner out to the crew and moving trucks, I rode in the combine w/DH for awhile; across the field was DS and DDIL in the other combine. It was cool. SIL was driving a truck; DD was back home picking cucumbers and raspberries out of my poor neglected garden. On another note, I'm a word person. Love 'em. Love books, love the library, love trivia, love it love it love it. So in the newspaper yesterday was this ad put in by the library: "Spine Tinglers" Create a Tale or Comment from Book Spines! Here's how: So I did. Here's what I came up with (it was sure fun! I'd love to see what you all would come up with!) This is the first attempt, which, actually, is pretty lame:
Attempt number two, a bit better:
And finally, my favorite one:
Today's scripture readings are Job 21-22 and Acts 10:1-23 | | |
