| Night will soon begin to fall over the high desert and I will be out most of the night putting out the stupidity of others. Before that happens, I will rush through a blog entry.
On Wednesday, Colin and my new best friend, Josh, along with 6 others went to the water park in Springfield. We had lunch before going in then had a good time for 3 1/2 hours then we got back on the bus where almost everybody fell asleep. Josh fell asleep on my arm for about a half hour until I could move then we both fell asleep. We got back to Bend at 8:15 then I drove home after stopping at Taco Bell to get me and Colin some dinner.
On Thursday, we were back on the road. I went with Tay and Dylan to the Olympic Trials. Tay wanted to drive his car so we split the driving in his car. Dylan got his permit so we let him drive for about a half hour just to get used to the highway. He is a better driver than Tay was when he had his permit. The trials were fun.
Now it is Friday, a holiday that I am working. I got my paperwork for my work physical today. I hate the physical because I bust my ass doing it then hurt for the next two days, especially the mile run. Such is life.
In hockey news, it is stupidity week for the Jets. We had a game Thursday. I got there in the 2nd period. Dave said he didn't care. So during intermission, I notice things are missing. Notably, on Tristan's thumb and Rob and Dom's heads. Tristan said he was tired of his cast so he had it removed by his friend. It was getting gross. Rob and Dom both shaved their heads for no real reason except to see how it looks. Well, they look like idiots with shaved heads. Also, the goals were missing since we lost 3-2.
Monday is Dave's birthday and we have a game. I have collected $5 from each kid on the team to get him a gift card for the mall so he can get some work clothes. I will treat him to a night out drinking or something at some point as my gift, probably as a coupon tucked in a six pack of Mike's.
Now for the jerks of the week. In New Jersey, there has been a rash of poisonings due to people mistaking tiki torch oil for apple juice. Now, I can understand a toddler but an old lady who died? Come on people, read the bottle, smell the oil. It isn't apple juice, it's lamp oil. So a tiara and sash to the idiots drinking this non-apple juice.
That's all I got. Gearing up for the Marshall family birthday for David tomorrow.
| Xanga wants me to fill out surveys again for 1000 credits. I don't get the credits thing at all. I mess up all the questions anyway. If it says I prefer not to answer, I don't. I gave my email address as no@no.net.
Tomorrow is the big day with Colin. He's very pumped. We had an IM chat tonight since I am at work. We have to be at camp by 10 and we'll be home at 7:30 tomorrow night since the water park is open 1-5 and it's 2 1/2 hours away. I wonder if we have a dinner stop on the way home. I am responsible for 7 kids plus Colin. He said it was the first half of the alphabet. I wonder if I'll have to wear a special shirt signifying me as an important person. It is just the middle school aged kids going.
Stuff is picking up around here too. I am working tonight, tripping tomorrow, going with Tay to the Olympic trials on Thursday, back to work on the 4th of July for a regular shift, then I am going with the Marshall family to celebrate Dave's birthday at a restaurant of his choice. My roommate is going to be an old man of 24 next Monday, of course I am working. No big deal, because he has camp and he comes home beat every night. He is like an old man. He comes home and puts his swimsuit on and goes down to the pool and hot tub. This week he has 8 and 9 year olds at hockey camp, 16 boys and 2 girls.
From the world of sports, Tyson Homosexual won the Olympic Trials at 100 meters. A Christian news website renamed Tyson Gay, "Tyson Homosexual", in their story about his run. Check out this link to see the story. They reformatted the story to put the correct name in but it made some great headlines.
That's all I got. I will be back Friday if I am not too busy putting out fireworks related fires.
| It is Saturday and I am working for the last time ever in June 2008. It will be July 1 next time I work. The year is half over!
On Wednesday, I am going with Colin's camp to the water park in Springfield. It's 2 1/2 hours away and they pay chaperones. I guess it is hard to get chaperones who have all their paperwork and child abuse stuff. So I get paid for taking a group of kids to the water park.
We had a game yesterday. Before our game on the same rink was a game for Colin's team. While we moved in, Colin introduced me to some of his team. His teammate Antonio has a broken foot and I asked what happened. Antonio said, "I tried something I saw on Dumbass." I asked if he meant Jackass, he nodded. I thought it was funny, so did Tom.
On to our game, a 4-2 win, Eric got knocked into August. His whole body just buckled because the kid who hit him was 40 pounds heavier than he is. He got up after a whistle but at the intermission it was clear he was hurting. Dave and Shawn went to the hospital after the game and Eric broke his collarbone and has a sore neck. It's times like that I am glad I'm not the head coach anymore.
My two little toes on my right foot keep getting muscle spasms. I might cut them off.
The jerk of the week comes from Eberholzen, Germany. Two young ladies attempting to make manure bombs fell into the tank. They managed to get out but they stripped their cow crap covered clothes in a field and disappeared nearly naked into the dark night. Police said they can have the unwashed garments back if they wish. They can go wearing their tiaras and sashes.
That's all I got. The Olympic track trials are in Eugene. I am eyeing up maybe a Thursday visit since I have to work Tuesday and Friday.
| It's a video-ish blog tonight. Lots of stuff to watch and not a whole lot to say.
Camp has begin for Colin, the kid in our building. Each day he comes and gives a full report. Tonight we got an IM update because I wasn't at home. He has such a good time at camp even though he's at that age when everything sucks. I even look forward to his update now. It's 6:20, Colin will be down to tell me about camp. Our neighbor Ryan is working that camp as a counselor and the on site first aid expert since he's a Level 1 EMT.
Tay had College Camp today with my mom. Each Wednesday she gets him up at the ungodly hour of 9 and they do four hours of internet searches, applications, or scholarships. Soon it will include college visits. While he is doing this hard labor, my mom makes him lunch. Anyway, he came to work today around 3 and complained for a half hour about how awful his day was.
Right after my last entry, I found out George Carlin passed away. While he was vulgar, my mom threw out one of his albums when I was in high school, I loved the man. I saw him live in Portland in 2000 or 2001. This clip had me laughing, especially the last 4 minutes.
Finally, the Consumer Product Safety Commission had a news conference today to show us what happens when a dummy is blown up by fireworks. I particularly like the dummy sitting on the lawn chair relaxing.
Now that you have smiled, leave me a comment. Off to the Olympic Trials if I can get tickets!
| I am annoyed. My phone charger has been lost. I don't want to buy another one but I guess I will have to if I want have a phone. It is just pretty annoying to spend $30 on something I know is somewhere. Maybe I will invoke St. Anthony.
We lost a game yesterday morning, 3-2 in a shootout. The guys were annoyed because they knew they had a lot of chances to score and they kept blowing their chances. Matt and Dustin both knocked Coyote players out of the game. They did go to check on them after the game. It's good to know some of my guys have empathy for the opponent. On the flip side, nobody had to be treated for our team which is good because we're on our backup trainer this weekend.
After the game, Dave and I took Dave and Tay out for brother's night. Every couple months, we go out, "just the guys." We had dinner at a pretty nice place. We tried to get Shawn to try something different but he got a cheeseburger. After that, we went to the park to see some guys Tay goes to school with play in their band. We topped off the night with team mini-golf, old brothers against young brothers, loser had to make breakfast. Either way, I wouldn't have to make or be able to collect because I had to work. It figures that we won. Tay should have to bring me breakfast some morning.
I just looked at a list of NHL draftees but I can't figure out why, I have no idea who any of these people are.
The jerks of the week are the parents of Tyler McMillan. Tyler, 13, died last week in North Carolina after he was tied to a tree for two days. His dad and stepmom decided he should be tied to a tree for misbehaving. He was tied to the tree overnight on Tuesday, two weeks ago. He was untied but misbehaved on Wednesday and spent Wednesday night on the tree. He was left there when he was found dead on Thursday. I think the comment from a blogger got it right, "even if I live for 1000 years, I will not understand how these people did this." A tiara and sash for Brice and Sandra McMillan.
My comment on the above story. I deal with kids a lot, at school visits or in hockey. Some of them are about 13 and they can be complete jerks but this in unbelievable to me. What could a child do that is so terrible to be tied to a tree for two nights? I hope these people are found guilty and given multiples lives in prison tied to a tree.
10:54 pm edit: George Carlin is dead. The world is not as funny as it was yesterday. Shit. Fuck.
That's all I got. | | |
