| I just want to say that Nerojoc has been around since late 2002 and
since then, I have had my share of disappointments, and of course the
good times playing on stage and meeting people off stage. My band has
been part of the Germantown/Gaithersburg scene even before being in a
band was the "cool" thing to do when you're a musician here in the
area. I have had my share of lengthy jam practices, doing shows out of
state, competing at battles, sharing stages with bands, and of course
meeting new people. I don't want to say "been there, done that" because
I obviously haven't reached that point in my music career, but if
you're going to look down on me and my band mates because of our choice
in music, or our abilty to play our music, then you are, for a lack of
better word, a fuckin' douche.
My friends and my family can attest to the fact that for 6 years my
band has been active, we have never stepped on anyone's shoes. One
word: humility.
I am not the one to brag, but I’m confident to say that my band has
accomplished a lot of things most people even dream of doing. (And that
also goes out to the people who are in bands right now) Most people
couldn’t even afford equipments, or find the right people to help them
get shows, or even find the right people to jam with. I can honestly
say that I’m really fortunate to be in Nerojoc because for 6 years we
have been around, we have met a lot people who has helped us get shows
out of state, give us free studio time, and get invited in private
parties to play and such. We know where we stand. We know what we can
do, but we do it with grace and humility. We don’t walk up to people
and tell them how inferior they are to us, or tell them that my band is
better than them. No. That’s not who I am. And it’s most certainly not
who we are.
When Nerojoc started, we have met a lot of cool people in the area.
Most of them are musicians who are in bands, people who play an
instrument but aren’t in a band, or just people who loves music. I have
to admit that most of my friends are the musicians in the area, which
is a good thing because we have something in common. I love the
camaraderie because we can discuss different sorts of gear, memorable
gigs, or funny moments on stage. I think it’s healthy. I believe that
as a community of musicians here in this area, we should all motivate
each other to better ourselves musically. We should help each other
move up and excel in what we do best. We should put out a good name
around Maryland or even around the States that we can be good
musicians.
Unfortunately, some people aren’t like that. And it’s sad. Really.
Now, I know that being in a band (or the music business for that
matter), you will definitely encounter people who will dislike your
music, or hate your choice of music. That is definitely understandable.
What pisses me off the most is that, the people I know who talk the
most shit are the people we have played with. And what pisses me more
is that these people are in our circle of “close” musician friends. How
sad is that?
I am not going to put out names, because you know who you are. I just
want to say that, just because you are in a band and that you feel like
you have accomplished something in life, that doesn’t give you the
right to look down on people. I don’t give a flying fuck if you could
shred 10 minutes straight, and have the most expensive gear, or play
“indie” music and act as if you know the “real” music. And I also don’t
give a rat’s ass if you could play music in odd meters, or put out the
heaviest breakdowns, or have time signatures and whatever original
bullshit you and your band can come up with to make your sound fresh.
For all I know, you are just a nobody who is insecure with your skills
that talking crap is the only way to satisfy your big dumb ego.
You, my friend, disgust me. You are a ghost in my eyes.
Do me a favor. Next time you feel the urge of talking shit, why not say
it in my face? Don’t cower and tell other people what you think of me
or my band because that is such a cowardly thing to do. Tell me what my
band needs to improve on. Don’t go running around telling people how
“terrible we are live” or “how their songs are so dumb and easy to
play”. Because instead of making us look bad, it’s you who is looking
like a retard. Not only are we going to look down on you for talking
smack, the people you are close with will find it hard to trust you
because they know you are a conniving snake.
I am ranting because I know some of these people. Forgiveness is not
the issue, its trust. I don’t think I’ll ever trust these people with
my life because they totally ruined the friendship. It’s sad… really.
Instead of trying to help each other, they find it necessary to talk
smack first. I honestly think it’s immature. Oh well… it’s not my loss.
I have said my peace, and I hope you do yours.
On a better note, I want to say CONGRATULATIONS to Stoney Bottom for
winning NW BOTB '08. 2 years in a row?! That is such an accomplishment.
You guys own. I also want to congratulate I Am Analog, and of course
Sanustelum for getting 2nd and 3rd respectively. I know most of you
will think that BOTB's are dumb and pointless, I don't think it is. I
think that if you could win people's heart and mind and be the best in
their eyes, then you are definitely doing something right. | | |
| LOL I just learned in Immunology class today that Viagra orginally wasn't meant to be a "magic pill" for men, but actually a pill for high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease. What made it to be the Viagra that we know today is because when it was tested for side effects, one of which (almost all men got the side-effect) gave them dilated veins in their penises. So, the manufacturer for Viagra asked himself. "Should I market this product as a brain pill to immobilize and kill disease and maybe save lives? or should I go out in the world and tell them that my pill gives men wood?" No shit. Give me the boner pill instead. You make more money that way. Fuck your brain. I love Biotech. AHAHAHA!!! | | |
| ok... so tell me why i've been studying so much for biotech that i totally just forgot most of them? fuckin' brain cells. btw, jagermeister is awesome. especially if its cold. | | |
