| Merry ChristmasHe is born! God-with-us
What a fascinating reality, that God would become a human being so as to share life with us, guide us, and bring us into perfect friendship with himself...
Peace to you all! May you have a wonderful and joy-filled octave of Christmas!

| Ministry keeps me busyDearest Xangans, Ministry is sure keeping me busy these days. I realize it has been months since I last posted, just after my ordination, and at my current pace there is not a whole lot of room to set myself down to update.
Nonetheless, it is good to catch up from time to time. Priesthood is great. I am shown a new way of being "Father" every day as i assist in the spiritual lives of about 6000 people between three parishes, downtown St Cloud, MN. It is a very rewarding but taxing ministry to meet souls, draw them to Christ, and help to heal wounds. This is the way our Lord has asked me to serve as priest, to provide healing to those who have been wounded.
I love preaching, praying Mass, and hearing confessions, most. There is something special living a sacramental life as a priest. Each day is another opportunity to see how God's grace is active in the lives of those I encounter.
The Lord has asked me to wear my clerics (black priest outfit) whenever I go out, and the reaction of those who see me is pretty inspiring. People find it hard to believe someone my age is really a priest. Many 'double-takes' and stares greet me as I shop, walk, or eat out. More than a few times I have been stopped for a "quick confession" or a friendly "thank you for being a priest".
Many more stories can be told, but I must get my rest for tomorrow's heavy Mass schedule (four for me this weekend).
God bless you all. You are in my prayers. -Fr Aaron
| New AssignmentFor those who might one day drive through central Minnesota, please feel free to drop in and say hello at one of my new parish assignments:
a brand new tri-parish cluster, downtown St Cloud
Cathedral of St Mary Church of St Augustine Christ Church Newman Center (at St Cloud State University)
Yours truly will be the new "parochial vicar" of all three.
*Parochial Vicar means 'associate pastor' but specifically a priest, since sometimes deacons and lay people are refered to as associate pastors, depending on their roles in the parish.
I start at the end of the month!

| Five DaysWell, my dear friends of Xanga, only a few days remain until the fated occassion whereby I will be made a priest forever. It's really exciting.
My absense in posting hasn't been for lack of desire these past months. It has been, as you can imagine, one of the most busy periods of my life, filled with classes, writing, reading, spending time with friends, and, of course, prayer. Now, I am back home, spending time unpacking, preparing to retreat for a few days, and then repacking to move into my new assignment, starting at the end of the month.
The Lord is so good to me. He has been preparing my heart for ordination, drawing me closer to himself, helping me to see how he will take care of me, guide me, and make me "a light shining in the darkness." What wonder to think that eight years of formation have come to a close. Now a new way of being and formation will begin.
As I have contemplated on it these past months, St John Vianney (as well as other saints) have come to mind. He began his priesthood at the age of 29, too, and his witness brought hundreds of thousands of people back to the Church over his lifetime. I hope the Lord might use me in the same way :)
Another saint comes to mind, as well. St. Philip Neri, a priest of Rome, saw that Rome was in need of great spiritual reform in his day. His dedication to preaching and loving those around him made him into one of the most beloved saints of Rome. He was hailed as the secondary apostle of Rome, next to Sts Peter and Paul, for the number of souls that came back to the Church under his care.
What makes me laugh sometimes, is how each of these men's lives up to their time as priests was just glossed over in the history books. What people remembered most about them was their personal sacrifice for the sake of others while they were priests. If anyone were ever to write a book about me, would everything up to this point be glossed over in just a few pages? Perhaps it would be better if they did... :)
Say a prayer for me in the days ahead. I will try to post a few pictures of the ordination and first mass after this weekend. -Dcn Aaron
