  • First I want to recommend a post by earthmechanic My first thought when I read the tilte was this is of no interest to me however I think it is something we all need to read .  It is so true how spoiled we are as Americans.  I am not a Jay Leno fan but every once and awhile he has something good to say and this is one of those times!  So please take time to read this you will not regret it!

Second I wanted to post two pictures of the Rebelution Conference last Saturday.  The lighting was not the best for pictures but here they are !    The first picture is of the group that went from church

  • Last night we had another awesome Lightening /thunderstorm from about 2 am until 3 am . Not alot of rain though of which I am thankful it is already spongy.  Some places just to the west of us though got 7 to 8 inches of rain during the night .  Needless to say there are lots of flash flood warnings out.

I would love to be able to get some pics of the lightening storms here  there is just no comparison to a lightening storm here in the midwest AWESOME!!!

  • A rainy day

It started raining during the night in the very early hours.  It is just a steady rain.  Hmmm may be a good day to be in at the gun shop early.

Today Fred has an appointment with the Oral surgeon to have a tooth removed.  And Chancy has an appointment with the Oral surgeon for another post op check from his surgery back in January.  I think they just like to see him and thus continue to schedule appointments they have never charged us since the surgery and they want him back every month.  Then all of the ladies yack yack to him ,the doctor looks at him for about 5 minutes ,asks nosy questions about our family, and then schedules another appointment!

Yesterday the boys reset the traps for the beaver no results as of yet. We had unset the traps on Friday because of them going to the Rebelution concert.  ( by the way the last one for this year is in Gathersburg Md this saturday)  Monday the Dr said not to set the traps because he had guests staying there that evening. So we went yesterday and reset them.  It was windy and Cody and I had a hard time keeping that pontoon boat where it needed to be without getting into the bank.  The beaver had been busy over the weekend. He was as busy as a beaver.  Or is that as busy as a bee?

I did another canner full of beans yesterday.  but my beans have certainly slowed down in production.  However maybe this rain will help!  It certainly cooled  things down!  Still feeels like summer but not so blazin' hot!

  • Prayer request

Please pray for our family After all this time Dad finally got the results for the lump they removed from his neck  back in June.  They told him it is Lymphoma  type B  Cancer.  the good thing it is in the very earliest stages  and is highly treatable.   Please pray for them as they make decisions on what steps to take next and for things like finances  ( no real insurance  they are part of a sharing plan though) Also they really need to sell their house in Pa we are trusting in the Lord through all of this but wondering with all of us children moved or in the process of moving to MO how this will all work out.  Mom & Dad had planned to move out to PA in early Sept to their place here regardless of selling their house in there as one or the other is empty and they will be needed here at the shop this fall.  Now Dad was told this would be his last week at work and then he got these results this morning. So please pray for them  and if you would like to email them  you can at ramaba@embarqmail.com

  • Yesterday was our day to mow.  We headed into town to fill up to 5 gal gas cans and  fill up the mower!  AHHHHH  what ever happened to cheap mowing???  Oh well it seems funny to think I can now like the old timers say things like I remember when gas only cost $00.82  or I remember when you could get a soda out of a machine for $00.25  Hmmm I must be getting old.  More of that later!

Anyhow back to my day!  We got some gas and then stopped at a little place in town owned by some of the conservative Mennonites in the area called the Village Market  to get some lunch stuff.    We parked our truck and trailer in front of the Hometown Animal Health.  When I came out to get in the truck I was prompted by something to take a brochure for the print shop into the Hometown A.H.   I did  and told them that we bought the print shop ( which they already knew)  and that I just wanted to drop off a brochure with the prices and let them know where we were since I knew they were a customer of the print shop.  Oh yes we had heard they said.  Actually we need receipts they said.  I asked them how soon.  Yesterday they said!!  Ha ha  everyone wants to be funny.  So then they looked to see how many they had left  Oh NO they said we really do need them right away  We only have 8 left not enough for the day.  So I zipped to the Print shop and fired up the machinery and printed and cut 40 for them so that they could get through the day and hopefully most of today.

After that we headed to the Yards to mow.  However when we got to my parents place the resident  mower there had a flat tire. So we loaded it up to head to Uncle Fred's.  While we did that we noticed that the lever to engage the mower was just hanging there loose.  No idea how that happened.  Anyhow Uncle Fred fixed it. Apparently a roll pin was about out.  While he was fixing it, my young  14 year old cousin was there and he likes to talk talk talk. He was bad mouthing our Case mower and just generally talking about things as though he is a expert on all things .  I told him that the mower was very old and entitled to some ailments!!!  I also said we had a mower like this when I was younger then he was and we lived in DE  so I said this mower is very old  ( it is not the same mower just one like it ) (Dad collects them)  How long ago was that he said in the 80's or 90's ???  Ha HA  He thinks I was his age in the 90's???   Yeah Uncle fred said I think it was in the late 80' or early  90's  !  I laughed and said more like the late 70's and early 80's!!  Uncle Fred looked shocked!  ( how time flies)   Yes I said we moved to Fl from DE in 1982 and I was 13  ( ok I can see everyone doing the math) Uncle Fred looked sceptical. I laughed and said it's been longer then you think Uncle Fred ( you see he lived with us up until we moved from DE to FL.)  I am now 39 . I was 13 when we moved that means that this fall it will be 26 years ago that we moved away from DE  seems hard to believe but.....................I can see Uncle Fred's mind a going  and then he just shook his head and kept working.  Makes a man feel old to hear his niece that was a aggravating 13 year old  in his life tell him she is now 39!!!

So he fixed the tractor and we headed back and finished mowing there and ate some lunch.  Then we headed to Uncle Dean's place and mowed there when we were almost done the roll pin fell out completely.  Now normally we do not take both mowers over to Uncle deans but it was so hot and we had pretty much wasted out whole mowing morning doing other things so.................I relented and made two trips.    we then loaded up the tractor to head back to the ranch and Uncle fred.  We were going to let the tractor there for him to fix on a later date.  He wanted to fix it right then.  It ended up taking two hours or more.  The little job was almost impossible to get to thus all the time.  But now it has a new roll pin and hopefully will work for a long time.

Well enough of that that really probably was of no interest to most of you.!
