i used to think that there was something i could say, add, elaborate on to make God's words to us pop out more, mean something more, have more clarity. (man we humans really think we're all of that and a bag of chips, huh? i wonder how many times a day God elbows someone up there and is like, look at Libby, she is so silly. thinking she can just figure it all out on her own...so silly)
but now so much of the time when God reveals to me the riches and treasures in the Bible, i'm just speechless. how can i add more to that? what could i possibly say in response to that?
i'm going to be studying 1 thessalonians with some amazing girls (yeah tangent lines!) and already there is just so much to unpack. i encourage you to take a peek for yourselves.
some highlights...
"because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well." -1 thess 2:8
"he died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." -1 thess 5:10-11
"God hasn't invited us into a disorderly, unkempt life but into something holy and beautiful- as beautiful on the inside as the outside." -1 thess 4:7 wicka wicka REMIX
"get along among yourselves, each of you doing your part. our counsel is that you warn the freeloaders to get a move on. gently encourage the stragglers, and reach out for the exhauasted, pulling them to their feet. be patient with each person, attentive to individual needs. and be careful that when you get on each other's nerves you don't snap at each other. look for the best in each other, and always do your best to bring it out. be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. this is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live." -1 thess 5:13-18, the message
"may God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together- spirit, soul, and body- and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ. the One who called you is completely dependable. if he said it, he'll do it!" - 1 thess 5:23-24, message
on another note...
