| | So I had a revelation today.... What a COMPLETE WASTE 7 years of school at Caldwell Elementary/Jr/Sr High was. Let me give you all a little background of my schooling career....
-- I was born in Hobart, Oklahoma and went there for Kindergarten & 1st Grade
-- My dad got a way better job, and we moved to Kansas. Which is where my mom is from, so it was awesome for her because it was like going home. What an amazing move it turned out to be regardless of what I thought at the time! My mom got a job as the drug education counselor at Wellington High School and so I went to Eisenhower Elementary in Wellington for 2nd grade. She knew that job was not permanent but she took it anyway because she needed a job at the time...
-- The next year, she took the job as Counselor of Caldwell Public Schools (about 30 minutes from wellington, no biggy, we didn't even have to move) I was quite distraught, but Caldwell would do... I went to Caldwell from 3rd grade until my sophomore year. I really didn't have anything against Caldwell. It was small, and easy to get around, my grandma was there. It was all gravy. (My mom took a better job at Cowley College when i was going into 6th grade, and then went on to work at Wichita Heights a couple years later)
-- After my 10th grade year, the music department at Caldwell had gone to crap, and I was having problems with the music teacher, had quit choir, and was hating school more and more by the second! The music department at Heights was awesome, so my junior and senior year I went to Heights in Wichita. Me and my mom drove the 55 minutes every morning and evening to school together from Mayfield (where we live) to Wichita Heights on the freaking NORTH side of wichita! I would have traded a minute of it for all the money in the world. There were just so many more opportunities for me.
-- In the 7 years that I spent in the halls of Caldwell schools I thought I had some of the greatest friends, nothing too special, but it was pretty much all that was there. With around 250 students K-12, yah didn't have much choice... In the 2 years I was at Heights I had better friends than the 7 that I was at Caldwell. After I transfered to Heights we still went to church in Caldwell, went to see my grandma all the time, and I worked at the pool there the summer after my senior year. You know how many people I have talked to from Caldwell since we all went to college... MAYBE one!! What kind of shit is that! I could not ask for better friends that I got in 2 years at Heights. We do everything together all the time. Imagine what I could have had with them in 7 years! Then the ones I had for almost 4 times as long don't give a shit about me!! I was looking through my facebook today and realized all these people that I am "friends" with from Caldwell and how many I have talked to in the past year.... And it came to me that it was the biggest waste there....
-- Anyway, thats about all. Besides the 2 years at Heights, I can't even mention the AMAZING people that I know from Butler in about 10 months at Butler. They can't even compare, so I didn't even want to put them in here. It was more of High School type comparison. But you Butler people know who you are and how much I love you all! I hope you are all having a great summer, and I can't wait to see you!!
