 CONGRATULATIONS SCOTT ROBERT LIM!

Scott Robert is the photographer who was spotlighted in my recent post in a webcast.  He attended the "One Step Ahead" seminar in L.A. and he just sent me an email:

"Gary, I wanted to praise you for your Album Software Actions. After going to your seminar, I went home and very quickly put together an album for my client. I was so pleased with the results that I submitted it into the WPPI album competition which I soon learned was one of the toughest competitions. To my surprise I scored an 82, Judges Award for Extraordinary Merit, it was the first time I submitted an album into competition..."
Scott your fantastic work is to be credited for winning you the award but thanks for the kudos for my software... I agree -  I LOVE my album software.  It is the best/fastest and least expensive digital album designer out there with instant download and now it's award winning!  Scott put it on "Album Showcase" and it rocks!  (Album Showcase will be on the cart in a few weeks)

Goose bumps -- always a very, very, very good sign!!!!! That was so personal. I felt like I was there and I know a lot about that couple -- they are right -- being in love does make you feel like a KID AGAIN.

Name of the artists- PussyCat Dolls. The bride loved it, she ordered it straight as is, no revisions. She is also going to order another one the way she wants it. It only takes about 4 weeks to print and bind an album, I created the album in two days. I'm not quite as fast as Gary. I designed it with no intention of entering it into a competition, I was trying to add as many photos as I could so I could make more money with it. Competition awards are for the artist and not for your client.

Gary, been meaning to tell you!  I used your software to create my first ever album.  Took me about 3 hours (in several chunks of time) but it is SO awesome!  Now that I know it a little better, I am sure I can crank out albums in about an hour or so!!!

I have a meg of ram and trying to make an album sure takes awhile for me.  A lot of freezing up and having to reboot.

I must have the photos too large or something?  The software works great but unless Gary created his album on the laptop using 324K photos, I can't see creating an album in the amount of time he was doing it in.

After I figure out the general size of each photo on the layout page, I knock down the resolution to 300dpi which speeds up the processing and should make things run 3 times faster.

Thx Scott, In my previous post I didn't mean to imply Garys software was a memory hog..  I assume its just the size of the files that I'm working with, vs the amount of ram in my computer.  I have a lot of disk space/cache available,

Generally to work on them  I reduce the photos around 750kb each, I generally shoot in raw or Large/Fine  for my Nikon D200

I just wanted to say that Scott's album rocks! I was at the WPPI convention as well, and I know that they judge pretty critically, so an 82 is really an awesome score. I went to Gary's seminar in February, and I too have used the Album Showcase; it worked to help me make a huge album sale the first time I used it. They weren't event going to get an album to begin with but had to have it after they saw it online. I'm using AS for all of my clients now. Great stuff to Gary, and to Scott.

That is amazing. Gary, please get that album showcase out to us soon. I didn't have the funds to purchase it at your talk in Chicago and I've been anxiously waiting since March 1st.

Gary, I'm kind of new to all of this. I just joined xanga, I have enjoyed reading your site and have learned so much from you. My site is ibobphoto. My question is I want to start designing albums. But I don't have CS2. I have photoshot elements 2 and 4. Will your album desinger work with these, or do I need to get a new program. Thanks for your help. Your awesome and you inspire me a lot.

Take care,

Bob

I have to agree with Michael Muramoto. I was able to watch some of the album judging at WPPI and I really thought Scott Robert Lim's album ROCKS in comparison to other albums! I was able to meet Scott at WPPI and was totally impressed with him. He's a talented photographer who brings a lot of inspiration to us photographers! WAY TO GO SCOTT! And we love Album Showcase too! But more importantly, our clients love it!
