  • Valentine's Day from a Man's View

    Well,  I know Valentine's day is not here yet but I just wanted to share what alot of us men feel and why we sometimes lose the magic.   First of all Ladies, we men do love romance as much as you do and often when you think we get to into other things that tend to distract us and keep us from  remembering to spoil you on this romantical day, remember this;   We live in a fast paced society where women and men have to speed up to stay up.   It may be long hours of working, deadlines, kids, whatever the case, we are just in too big of a hurry to slow down and enjoy each other.  If women and men would for that one day in February, just put everything aside for the day and relax, this is what we can find in each other;

    We can find that the flame never went out , it was just that the door was closed on the furnace.  We will find that if we relax with each other and make that day about each other, then we can truely be one with the other and feel what the other is feeling.  We will discover communication so deep and so special yet it was expressed without ever saying a word.  We can be able to look in each others eyes and truely see the soul.   We can re-discover what was never gone, "Love".

    We seem to lose the magic for one simple reason, we fail to slow down long enough to enjoy the simple things that really are the foundation of great joy and love.   To test yourself on what you are missing, just stop, take a few deep breaths, look at the clouds, a flower, the trees, an animal outside living it's life.  Just stand there and watch these things and get lost in it.  There is a peace like no other and that applies to our lives together.  We need to stop and take the time to enjoy each other.

  • The Story Behind The Name "GentleBear"

    I have worked in EMS for awhile and have transported many patients more than once, some I have even gotten to know well.  I was called one day to respond to a 63 y/o woman having severe pain secondary to cancer.  Upon arriving, I realized who this woman was.  I had transported her on many occasions and had a good knowledge of her history.  It was obvious to me that the pain was at the point of being unbearable.

    While going to the Hospital, this woman who was in pain, still took the time to joke about the ambulance ride.  My partner said the ride was not as bad as I was because I am a bad old bear.  The woman tried to smile as she looked at me as I tried to make her comfortable and she said, " Nawwww, He is a GentleBear in life."

    This name has stuck with me because it was then that I truely realize that I had made a difference in someones life at a time when they are facing a crisis.  Sadly, about a week later, I learned of her death from cancer.  To this day the name is special to me and I often think if this woman knew that on that day, she had helped me more than I helped her.

  • My First Post

    Greetings to all who visit here!

    This is ofcourse my first entry and I am a bit shy at first but when I warm up, look out, lol.   I live in near Memphis, I am a diehard UofM fan "GO TIGERS!".  I am a proud husband, daddy, and grand daddy !  Did I mention I am a proud GrandDaddy?   I am also a daddy to a yorkiepoo who does not realize he is a dog yet.  I will soon have a new baby, a yellow kitten who we named Callie.

    I am also a guy who loves to cook both outside and indoors.  One of my best items has been an Italian cream cake, yummmmmmm!

    I will be adding things along the way and look forward to meeting new people and making new friends.
