i saw this on someone's blog. check out the ipod flea.

have sound on. guarantee (or your money back), this is worth it.

what's funny/sad is that people would probably still buy this, simply because it has the "ipod" branding on it. (dibs on the orange!) :p

sheep, sheep!

Thursday, June 02, 2005

beep... beep... beeeeeeeeep

my xanga is dying! well, not that it was ever more than a heartbeat away from inevitable demise. i don't have much incentive to post here, and my readership is like, 2? (me + 1 refresh).

but you know, i was thinking, that technically, if xanga is still around when i die, this page may outlive me! how sad is that? i wonder if there is xanga in heaven? imagine the community i could build there. i could be getting eprops from like, buddy holly (woo-ee-oo) or tupac! how crunk would that be?

actually, i have no business using the term "crunk" as i am neither african-american, nor do i even know what this word means.

i have a new idea for a screenplay. i can't share it with you b/c i'm afraid you might steal my idea and harbor it for your very own self. then try to sell it to spielberg or kaufman or woo, or claim all the sundance honor and glory. i will say though, that there is a scene that takes place in a starbucks and that someone will end up getting *more* than just a decaf mocha chocalata (ya ya). good stuff.

i don't know what i'm saying anymore. but sometimes it's good just to wax existential, you know? it's a lot less time consuming and painful than waxing my car.

or my upper-lip.

new weezer doesn't rock as hard as old weezer. but it's all good.

Tuesday, May 03, 2005

some days...

i don't know what this really says about my english. and what is the difference between "upper midwestern" and just regular midwestern? seriously. i need to know if i should feel upset about this or not.

obviously, i ain't whistling dixie here. but that is mainly because i can't whistle.

i have been on a soda kick lately. and not like "diet" stuff either. i've heard aspertame can kill you. but sugar, on the other hand, is natural goodness extracted from the pure, sweet canes of the earth. in fact, i've decided someday, when i have my own house, forget about japanese landscaped gardens or fountains of bellagio proportions... i'm going to grow sugar canes in my backyard. stalks and stalks of them, amassing my own little brigade of nature's gold to protect against hunger and sadness. just imagine, i can imbibe of my favorite food group anytime i want. on tap!!

i don't want to brag, but i'm some kind of genius.

but anyways, that's not the purpose of this entry.

the purpose of this entry is to inform you that may 10 is coming up. and you know what day may 10 is, don't you? that's right. a tuesday. and you know what happens on tuesdays, right? new cd's drop. and you know what's dropping on that particular tuesday, do you not?

/sigh/

i'm tired of playing this game. go read about it yourself.

i'll drink (a coke) to that!

Tuesday, February 15, 2005

don't mind me

today i find myself exceedingly bored. work has dragged as of late. i have only one project in my queue at the moment, which i can stretch out until next friday if i wanted to. i wish i could take a vacation. or moonlight on another project, while i wait for things to pick up here. though, if i do this *during* actual work hours, would it really be called "sunlight"?

i am taking slow sips of diluted coffee as i type this while sneaking in paragraphs of oscar wilde from behind my "massive" 15" monitor.

like i said, i am bored. and my dilbert calendar ceases to amuse me.

on the upswing, i am having a *fabulous* hair day. i recently had 3 inches chopped off, and i feel extremely liberated. my hair now falls slightly below the shoulders (i have not the courage to go above), though slowly, inch by inch, i just might gradually get there. the problem is that i don't think my face is angular enough to pull it off. Lord knows i don't want to end up looking like a q-tip because of one lapse in judgement.

i just checked amazon.com and "alfie" will be released on dvd march 15. huzzah! i have decided that i will purchase this and name my first, as yet to be conceived, born, alfie. isn't that a cute name? believe me, he will thank me someday when he is 33.... ;)

well, i am off to dream about sugar. speaking of which, i do believe the stores should be offering discounted valentine's candies today. and i never miss a good sale.

peace, love and candy hearts.

Monday, January 31, 2005

back- bigger and blanker

hello. my name is she-who-cannot-be-named. remember me? it's been so long since i've xanga'd, i almost went in here and deleted all my previous posts. but then, as i started reading them again, i realized that i make myself laugh. (i may be alone here, but laughing alone is better than drinking alone... at least that is what my AA partner says).

so anyways.

i went to borders last week to buy my friend a cd for his birthday. i got him "the killers" in case you really wanted to know. i feel it is my civic duty to influence my friends with only good music. (aka, anything that *i* like. hehe). however, the borders clerk was less than concurring with me. here was the convo at the cash register, where bc= borders clerk, and me=macedonian elephant. aka, she-who-cannot-be-named. :p

bc (ringing me up): oh, the killers! i *hate* this band!

me (silently thinking, gee, what great customer service they have here)

bc: seriously, they suck! i can't believe you're buying it. they sound just like every other band. they're totally unoriginal!

me: you can't convince me not to buy this.

bc (taken aback that i actually spoke): oh, so you like them?

me (silently thinking, duh. that's why i'm buying it): yes

bc: me too.

me: uh, what?

bc: yeah, track 3 (smile like you mean it), that's the best!!

me: i thought you said you didn't like them.

bc: oh, did i? i mean, i don't. but secretly, i do. it's just that my favorite band of all time is joy division, and the killers kinda ripped them off a little bit. they sound alike, which is why i actually do like the killers. they're awesome!

me: yeah. they are.

bc: cool! so hey, you wanna hang out sometime?

me: i would. but i don't go out with people who listen to joy division.

===

okay, so perhaps i didn't actually *say* that last part, but wouldn't it have been so funny if i did? but the problem with trying to be funny is that sometimes you have to be mean. which ends up making people cry. and that's not funny at all.

except to me. but i laugh alone.

Friday, January 07, 2005

similarly different

i took a sneak peak at my credit card bill for this month online. it was more to get the intial shock of seeing the actual statement arrive in the mail out of my system rather than to quell any type of curiosity for personal pleasure. at first i was afraid to look, but sight of the first (of many) digits eased my mind a bit, as it wasn't the shocking sticker price i initially feared. oh don't get me wrong. i still spent more than i should have. but at least my checking balance outweighs the credit balance. as it well should.

this year i resolve to save money.

this guy at work has taken to impress me by learning a few phrases in mandarin over the Christmas holidays. normally, i think this behavior would be somewhat offensive, especially if someone came up to me in very heavily american-accented chinese and said, "excuse me, could i trouble you for a postage stamp?" but i know he had good intentions, even though i speak cantonese, not mandarin.

and no, that is not like the difference between someone speaking english from california and someone from the bronx.

it's more like korea and somalia.

by the way, apparently, somali is unlike any other language in the history of well, history... further underscoring my point thank you very much.

anyways, to my scholarly co-worker (who must never know i write this),

ni kan zai xing xi mian fei da cheng ta ren bian che de shou ce mei?

(have you read "hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy"?)

r.s.v.p. in mandarin or english. or manglish. anyever.
