We went there for a friend’s birthday, a little restaurant
on King Street East. The restaurant décor is very modern and
stylish. They have a bar and patio area
on the main floor and dining area on the second floor. The atmosphere is relatively nice, a little
dark for the dine area but great for the bar and patio.
The wine selection was very good, they had a full menu on
all sorts of wine and the server even gave us a few different wines to taste
before ordering it. As usual we ordered
a bottle of wine before dining. The wine that was recommended by the server was
good and it was just what we wanted.
The menus had a limited selection. The appetizers and the entrée
were both overpriced, so we decided to go cheap and ordered only the entrée. When
the entrée came we were surprised of how small the portion is since it cost over
$20. The food was too salty. All in all, nothing much to say about this restaurant.
The food too pricy, too small and too salty, it’s just bad for your pocket and
bad for your health. I will not recommend this restaurant but only warn you about
this restaurant. It should be called “salty” eggplant.

| Quince
I recently went to Quince restaurant on a weeknight. It was rather a spur of the moment and I didn't make a reservation. It was a little past eight so luckily we were able to get a table for two. The restaurant itself is relatively small with about 30 tables. When we got there, it was already packed with a mature crowd. The atmosphere in the restaurant was elegant and modern, it's like a modern wine and dine restaurant. We ordered the wine before dine...haha it rhythms. =P Okay back to wine.....the restaurant had a wine menu that had a wide range of selection. We actually ordered the Merlot before our meal as it was recommended by the server. However, the wine wasn't exactly what we asked for. The wine was a bit too dry for our taste and didn't have the rich wine texture/taste to it.
The menu has a lot of exotic entree selection, ranging from rabbit meat to quail. I decided to go with the quail entree and it was definitely a surprise. The quail was de-boned, perfect for lazy people like me. The meat was marinated and juicy. The sauce is light and flavorful. I really liked it. We also had steak and frites. The steak was average but they did prepared it like what I asked for (medium rare)
As for dessert, we had a chocolate molten cake with vanilla ice-cream. Two words, simply delicious. The cake was rich and flavorful, yet not too sweet for our taste. The cake was warm while the ice-cream mixed with it was a very good fusion/combination.
Overall, this restaurant is above average and cost wise, its relatively affordable. A dinner for two with wine and dessert is approximately $100. For it's price/food quality/atmosphere it is worth trying, definitely a go back restaurant. Recommend it for casual dinning and/or special occasions.

| It's been a while since my last entry.....
From now on I am going to dedicate my blog on food, wine and dine. The reason that I have this idea is because I recently discovered a few restaurants in Toronto that are affordable, nice and the food is de-li-cious!! Summer is around the corner and it's time for good food and wine. Time to get together and enjoy nice meals and enjoy the variety of cuisines in T.O.
 Smalltalk Lunch, Brunch + Dinner
I went there for dinner last Saturday. It was a bit of an unplanned visit. My friend made the reservation only 2 hours before dinner. The restaurant is relatively small with not a lot of tables. It has modern causal decor, a nice atmosphere to it, warm and welcoming. It's one of these places where you want to enjoy a nice causal dinner with friends. From where I was sitting, I was able to see the chiefs preparing in the open kitchen.
The menu is alright, nothing special and not a lot of selection. I decided to go for a 3 course meal. For appetizer I had the Romanian heart Cesar salad with crispy bacon. It was one of the best salad I ever had in my life. The dressing on the salad has a roast garlic flavor to it, it's not too rich. My main course was a 10oz Sirloin steak with roasted winter veggies and mash potato. The Steak was a big disappointment. The barbeque sauce on the steak just overpowered all the meat flavor. The steak was a little dry. For dessert, I had the chocolate souffle and creme brulee. The creme brulee has a hint of ginger, kind of an Asian twist to it. The chocolate souffle was rather bland and doughy.
For those who like to go for brunch, I will recommend this restaurant.
