Another month, and another friend I must bid farewell...

Hope you have arrived safely in Korea, will be over soon Banana. Take care. How's Sunny, Sena and Honey...oh I miss them.

As Sydney gets colder, its getting a bit lonelier too..why are all my friends leaving? Is it a sign that I too, should perhaps relocate?

Vietnam, friends, fairs, Singapore...2006 was pretty cool.

Everyone, get 'Weekend in the City" Bloc Party's new album. The very first song "Song for Clay (Disappear Here)" is about Bret Easton Ellis' "Less Than Zero" character of Clay and the fked up life of 80s American teens. OmG! my fave band singing about one of my fave books can it get any better!!! (CINDY the album is amazing!!)

Been researching for my 10 000w paper, watching Sex and City reruns, selling sushi after sushi, drinking redbulls after coffee, going up to the northern beaches, eating dessert (yay my distaste for cakes and sweets is disappearing) and looking for my next no-regrets haircut.

2006...The year that was...

I enjoyed last year - it was a full year for me - I liked that.

Here are some top stuff that I remember from last year:

1. Trip to Viet Nam. I unexpectantly fell in love with this country. The atmosphere was really hectic but you can also sense a sad silence in the air. Beaut!

2. Best book: "Less Than Zero" by Bret Easton Ellis. Simple writing about shocking reality..ate it up in a couple of days.

3. Best album: "Begin to Hope" by Regina Spektor. Oh how good is this woman! and she's like buddies with The Strokes.

4. Best concert: Coldplay..Ok, I was never a fan and the ticket was supplied by dear Olivia for my birthday..but I was indeed impressed. Particularly when they performed "Fix You" that was very moving..and I rarely say that about gigs.

5. Biggest Gina's gonna have a breakdown moment: trying to juggle 2 jobs, manage one, and four subjects at uni all at once...what was I thinking?

6. Best Birthday: Mine! surprise party thrown by Hanna and Dustin in Vietnam with our friends from the hotel: which was followed by flowers, candles, cakes, Saigon beer and being thrown in the pool fully clothed...

7. Lesson for life: Honesty once again prevails, look after my damn lungs, never date arty farty guys and live for my faith and my loved ones.

Happy New years my dear friends, esepcially those overseas and there are plenty of you out there, please take care and come back to me in one piece or another.
I have devleoped alot of great relationships last year, with new and old friends. Even those who I may speak ill of, you know, exes and frenemies..it was a privilege to know you at all.

Salut!

wow, its been awhile. What have I been doing with myself?

...oh yeah Viet Nam came and went in a flash...too quick but mind you, it was the best trip of my life. I've often described the country as poor but perfect. Hanna, my fellow cofa buddy and a phd genius, took me around to all the war memorials, galleries and we tried to focus on being as objective as possible - but fk I hate the war(and a certain administration from a certain country). It destroyed the land and left it in tatters but the Vietnamese were mighty - and there is a reversal of power here - women def wears the trousers. I wholeheartedly recommend those who want to travel somewhere less 'beach side resort' and more rewarding experience to give Hoi An - the quiet village with the most - a try, I am saving up to visit the north as well as Cambodia, can't wait.

...Other than that, the vicious cycle of uni and managing my little sushi store is ongoing...still havent found a cure for insomnia, but I have cut down the things that are bad for me...junk, caffeine, noccotine...don't drink much, I'm thinking yoga but I really should use my gym thats part of the mortgage *cringe* and yes, less shopping and more study...

Best experience about co-curating - meeting blue-eyed artist with matching talent to boot - he was so dreamy la
Worst experience about co-curating - meeting the majority of the artists, too stoned to self-promote or to anal to let you even near the work!

Muse tiks out now @ the Horden...should I...no money...but i like their old stuff...blehh
Excited to see Al Gore's Inconvenient Truth...been a little bit too enthusiastic with the 'world dying' documentaries but the reality is, we are screwed!!

Hola everybody!

Thought i quickly tell the small community that actually looks at my xanga that I'm leaving soon to Vietnam. I am joining an NGO there to help rebuild a kindergarten and teach kids English. Very spontaneous decision, ticket bought less than a week ago. Excited, nervous, guilty, still nursing a broken heart - but at least I can fk it all and get out of here and stop being a selfish prick and actully help the world for a change.

I am also working at Art Sydney (affordable art) at Fox studios and scored a couple of free tix, so if anyone wants to have a browse, buy some art works or just freeload on the canapes, give me a buzz, starts this Wednesday.

I have rediscovered my love for the Beatles. I keep forgetting how good they are, my fave songs are In My Life, Hey Jude, All You need is Love....whats yours???

"V for Vendetta" was crap... the most action Portman did was shave her head and for what? It incorporated the current state of war and its future consequences so it had a promising start and then she kissed the mask and everything was donwhill from there. Ahh, so sick of *wtf* movies...

Dinner with the Media Gang - finally! Food, company, convo was great, we should do this more often.

Btw guys, I manage to pull off a 2500w report in one night and get a decent mark too, *snaps* for Gina.

Hope everyone has a good break. Im just working at the sushi store, volunteering at UTS Gallery (pls visit me on tuesdays, gets quite tedious), and attempting to start my report on creating a arts centre in Chinatown from scratch eek!

I want to be back up there, in Thailand, collecting shells and admiring the unforgiving sky, and the comfort of knowing that I didn't have school, work, love, health, wealth - all the problems in the world could not have affected me that day and the beauty that I was surrounded by.

Unfortunately, its another story here.
Anyone out there with a solution to insomnia, please get back to me. Open to all suggestions.

Oh, I hate wholeheartedly James Blunt and his screeching "Goodbye My Lover", i hate his voice and the lonely piano jingle. But the lyrics are annoyingly piercing, not powerful, but definately relevant!!

oh, does anyone have a human skull or skeleton in their closet? I really need it for my anatomy for artists class. Really, i don't care how it ended up in your basement, i need to do well in the drawing class if i ever want to bags that illustrator job.
