| Random thingsSo, I guess it's really flu season. I am, once again, sick. I had a bad fever last night then this morning I had pain all around my stomach / intestines / abdomenal area. Saw the doctor who told me that this type of flu is very contagious and that my family should reserve one whole washroom for me to avoid contamination. But I just really want this flu to go away! I hate having to endure sporadic periods of pain every half an hour. A lot of things have happened in these past few days, and thought I'd share them on here. As a lot of you know, I have always had the intention of applying for medical school. I did my medical school interview for UBC last month, but won't hear back until mid-May. However, I also applied to the two medical schools in Hong Kong, namely the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). I was priveleged to have had the chance for a medical school interview when I was in Hong Kong for CUHK. Last night, I called the CUHK Admissions Office and was re-directed to the Faculty of Medicine which told me that both Leslie and I have been offered a position at their Medical School for this September! Exciting news! We were told that right after our interviews, the interviewers already requested Admissions that they had to accept us! But of course, I'll have to wait for UBC to make a firm decision. I have also applied to grad school for a M.Sc. and scholarships for the program, so at maximum, I have to make a decision from 3 choices. I am currently in the process of applying for a job at a bioanalytical chemistry company situated on East Mall at UBC. Salary is pretty decent, but I have to make a decision soon whether to take the job. I really enjoy working at SFU and I'm really dedicated to the job, but I really think that having at least some industrial experience would be beneficial for me. | | |
| Geeky Pickup LinesHaha, I guess you have to be as geeky as me to get all of the following! I wish I were a derivative so I could lie tangent to your curves. The name's bond. Covalent bond. I wish I were DNA helicase so I could unzip your genes. I know the spring constant of my mattress. Wanna take some data? I wish I was sin^2x and you were cos^2x so together we'd be one! You must be a catalyst 'cause you've lowered my reaction threshold. | | |
| Greetings from Macau! If you haven't noticed, Alan has been gone for 3 weeks already. Where -- on a 6 week vacation to Hong Kong! Unfortunately, Internet access has been (surprisingly) limited, but that's okay because I am currently in Macau in "Hotel Taipa Square" where I can enjoy complimentary high-speed Internet in my hotel room. My endeavours in Hong Kong have been fun and exciting so far - looking forward to more adventures in the next 3 weeks! Perhaps I'll update more later in February, but for now, enjoy some pictures we took so far. Haha, in 3 weeks time we got a new Canon digital IXUS 900Ti camera (10.0 mega pixels) and took around 1400 pictures taking up approximately 8.5 GBs of hard drive space, and had quite a few "photoshoots" in various parts of Hong Kong! Here are some pictures:

Family encounter with Buzz Lightyear in Disneyland Hong Kong!
Another family picture from Disneyland.
Mom, me and Dad in Stanley, Hong Kong.

Me and Leslie in Stanley.
Okay, forgot to rotate this picture. This was a part of my "photoshoot" in Stanley!

On one of the beaches in Sai Kung, Hong Kong!

Taken today - enjoying Portugeuse egg tarts from Macau!

While the content of this "graffiti" on Macau walls is true, I didn't do it!

Leslie's very rad photography skills of a butterfly in Macau!
