| first day of springand butler county (plus other counties) is under a flipping winter storm warning until 7pm tuesday night. WOW. i hope we get tons and tons of snow because this winter was very disappointing. anyway i think i'm really going to enjoy volunteering at wildwood. kendra is awesome. she's really sweet and once you get her talking, she just goes on and on...but not in an annoying way at all. she loves animals and has four horses and a dog at her dad's house and three cats at her mom's. i'm envious about the horses! she wants to be a vet when she grows up. she even takes an art class outside of school. her favorite thing in the class is the pottery wheel. so i think we'll be doing some arts and crafts soon, and some reading because she likes that too. we talked about our fave tv shows..hers is full house and mine of course is american idol. when i told her that i like american idol, she immediately said something about simon being mean. hah! kendra is an all around very sweet girl. i'm very excited to be working with her..as i was leaving, she said "bye miss beth!" how cute is that?? on the way home from tenn my mom and i stopped in elizabethtown, KY..where the movie elizabethtown was partially filmed in. it wasn't the greatest, but it was alright. i recognized the town square, so that was cool to be able to associate that with the movie. but other than that it was pretty much a downer. but the movie is great just the same. i need to finish a paper and sleep. goodbye.
oh yeah, i posted this very same entry in my livejournal in case any of you read that too.

| happy president's day. here i am actually updating. hmmm, what have i been up to? work and school pretty much. i'm working every friday and sunday at mcdonalds still. on thursday nights i rehearse with the southern ohio symphonic band...(i get college credit for it!!) it's been really enjoyable and fun. our first concert is on Sunday, March 5th. it'll be good. we're playing some nice pieces. my two english classes have been throwing writing assignments my way for a bit, so that's taken up some time. in fact, i worked on two papers today and still have another one to write for thursday. american idol is officially underway, which is exciting. it's the only television show i have time to watch. i'm really missing my episodes of seinfeld though. i'm at a loss of words right now, so i guess this post is complete. i'll write in a month ;) | | |
| finally updating. well, today has been an emotional rollercoaster. i'm not going to get into it, because it's very very private and personal and concerns a friend. but i do ask for prayers for my friend and myself. i learned information, and am taking it pretty hard. i just don't understand...
other than today, life has been swell. school is school. and i guess i should be finishing some right now. so, goodnight everyone.
| i like coming back home instead of a dorm after my classes! feels alot like high school, but not. the ENG 144 prof. seems nice enough, and enthusiastic about the class. this class is going to be filled with reading. today i read thoreau's "civil disobedience" which i read junior year in honors english. so it was more of a brush up i guess. we're also going to be reading thoreau's "walden." and i've read part of that for junior year's honors english. the novel of the semester is "their eyes were watching God" by zora neale hurston. and again, i read this book for my junior honors english class! we'll be studying/reading dickinson, twain, and alexie also. though i've been introduced to these writers (except alexie) it'll be good to learn about them at the college level. i'm sure i'll get a bunch of information out of this class. now, as for math...the prof. is decent i guess. i can't really tell yet. but he does teach at fenwick high school, so maybe he'll be able to explain math simply. he gave us a bunch of problems out of the text that's due wednesday. i bought a new ti-83 calculator and finished all the problems today. mondays are going to be study days. tomorrow i have 3 classes. so i'll be at MUM till about 3:30pm. well, i don't have anything else interesting to write. so goodnight. hope everyone's had a productive monday..whether you've been at work, in class or relaxing during your last week of christmas break! | | |
