| I swear to God if another overtly anime-obsessed person attempts to
speak to me in butchered Japanese while proudly referring to
him/herself as an "otaku" one more time I will personally hunt that
person down and shove his/her entire anime collection down his/her
throat one DVD/VHS at a time.
Especially if they mistakenly assume that I must in fact be Japanese because I look Asian.
Do these people not realise that "otaku" pretty much means fanatic loser in Japanese? It's a negative insulting term!! Don't call yourself that as if it's a badge of honour!!
If you call yourself an otaku in front of an actual Japanese person they won't think "Oh, gee, you must be a cool worldly person who knows much about anime and my culture." They'll actually be thinking something along the lines of "Uh... Did this scary gaijin just admit to being a humongous nerd...?"
