| | I think I'm going to post the trip in two parts, to save time.
Thursday We started out Thursday morning, only an hour later than I had planned. Believe me, for me - that's good . Little Miss Red Delicious (yes, my car has a name bigger than she is) was all clean and ready to go, and Faith was prepped with the portable DVD player and her ipod shuffle.
We stopped an hour north in Roseburg for breakfast at IHOP. I love their country griddle pancakes . Once back on the road, we made good time, only stopping in Wilsonville to fill up (intentionally on the Oregon side so I didn't have to pump my own gas ), and again in Kelso-Longview for lunch at Burgerville. I specifically stopped there to get their Walla Walla sweet onion rings *drooool*, but was shot down when they informed me they didn't start serving those until Saturday (dang it) . We got into Seattle at about 4, which caused us to hit going home traffic, and it took a while to get to my friend's house. I was glad to see them when I got there, and the baby just stole my heart. He's such a love .
After a bit of a rest and settling in, we ordered takeout from their local Thai place. I had Rama noodles with chicken in peanut sauce.....and OMG it was phenomenal! Is it wrong that I had the instinct to take pictures of it and blog ? My friends had curry and another yummy dish that was all just sooooo good. We hit the hay fairly early as I was exhausted from the drive.
Friday Friday I took Faith to see the Eastside (Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, etc.). This is the utterly gorgeous view of the Sound and the Olympic Range from my friends' house:

Isn't that beautiful? You can faintly hear the water at night. I took Faith across the I-90 floating bridge, which amazed her - she'd never seen a bridge that was ON the water! We explored Bellevue (Factoria and Overlake, specifically) and I showed her where I used to live and go to high school. We had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory in Bellevue Square, and then did a little shopping. She got a monkey from Build a Bear and named her Empress Seattle. Yeah, don't ask . I bought some gorgeous unmentionables as well - hehehehe all I'll say here is airbags . It makes me giggle every time I put them on - they're push-up bras for my DDD set - it's rather funny! ANYWAY.....we headed back across on the 520 this time and got stuck in traffic, making it back to my friend's house just in time to leave for the basketball game. By this time, Faith was a wiggly, hyper mess, she was sooooo excited! I gave in and bought her a t-shirt, but only caught 1/2 of it in this shot in front of the Key Arena:

Once inside, we found that we had great seats! I spent a ridiculous amount of money on nachos and beer (for me, sillies )....

I had a good giggle over the "thunder stix".....I think they look a bit phallic!

She was just so excited the whole time that she could barely sit still!

The game ended at about 9-ish, and we headed back, stopping at Krispy Kreme for breakfast in the morning . Mmmmm....insulin spikes!!
Coming later - part 2 of my trip! |
