Not a big surprise.  Romney is Mormon, Utah is Mormon.  Not a knock.  It just is what it is.  When Romney is getting triple the support of McCain overall (which I would fully endorse), THAT would be news.

I don't think Mormon has as much to do with it as one might think. Afterall, Reid is LDS too, but Utah would not elect him dogcatcher. Furthermore, the GOP gov out here supports McCain. Go figure.

Yes Reid would never get elected in Utah. I think the reason Romney's numbers are so high are because of several factors. 1) Western states tend to care about fiscal matters more. Romney is the only real fiscal conservative in the race. 2) The faith thing helps, but not huge amount. Mormon Democrats go down to defeat against Non-Mormon Republicans frequently. 3) SLC Olympics.

I think the biggest thing it teaches us is that if placed among a group of conservatives with proper name ID, Romney crushes McCain.
