| Howdy! I'm back in the land of blog-i-ness for the next 3 or 4 weeks. :) However, I will be staying in other people's homes & using their computers (at their convenience?)... so I'm not sure how much time I will spend on here. However, I'm here! | | |
| HI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I have access till Wednesday. What's new with you? | | |
| Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!I'm only online because I'm spending Christmas break in Vietnam, and internet restrictions are much lighter here... or at least they haven't blocked Xanga! I'm returning to China early tomorrow morning, though, so if you post a comment, I wont be able to read it till the next time I venture out of China. That probably won't be till May, or possibly July, so please don't torture me by posting comments I cannot read!! In the meantime, I'll try to post a link to recent pictures... pictures of Xiamen: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=48777&l=35f1a&id=633785651 a few very random pictures from Xiamen: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=54474&l=8a342&id=633785651 pictures from around China (not in Xiamen): http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=61426&l=e5cc8&id=633785651 Chinglish signs: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=57539&l=5a129&id=633785651 and... last but not least, my Christmas escape to somewhere warm & Cheap: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=77300&l=e8152&id=633785651 By the way, I still get my "daily updates" of what You WRITE delivered to my email address daily, I simply can't respond. :( But I can still read. I miss you & hope you're doing well ~ 'see' you next vacation! | | |
| and I'm off...I don't think I'll be checking this again, at least not for many, many months. If you're finding this blog after August 15, sorry I didn't get to know you. For those of you who were my Xanga community, I'll miss you like mad!
Take care & know I'm thinking about you...
| T minus 6 daysI've been meaning to upload pictures from my visit to Xiamen for a while now. I will be living here:
well, I will be living about 2 buildings back from the really colorful building, I think. which is good, because 2 buildings back is off of the main street, & so sheltered (quiet) from all the hustle & hopefully from most of the lights. And yes, it's not just a stereotype created in Hollywood: Asia loves neon lights.
This is the same area by day, my camera was aimed a little to the right:
btw: the smokey effect is mostly early morning haze/humidity. When we returned from school later that day, it was much, much clearer, which wouldn't happen if it were pollution.
Those were both taken from the apartment of the lady I was staying with. I took pictures at the school - but they're all of kids I won't be teaching, so I'm not posting any of them. Xiamen also has a boardwalk. My 2nd day, the lady I was staying with had dinner with a friend who lived near the boardwalk & brought me along. This last picture is taken from near her house.
I've been told this is incredibly pretty for China, from the little I've seen, I agree. Now if everything else is as pleasant as the 'scenery' then it really will be paradise on a tropical island...
