captain's logok, so here's my "brush with celebrity" for this trip. i was waiting in the terminal at the vegas airport, killing time before the flight. unlike my last stop in vegas the flight was pretty much on time. anyway, they do the whole "we will soon be boarding" yadda yadda yadda lines, so we all get up and form our lines via the A, B or C noted on our boarding passes. while standing in line, after shifting my bags around, assuring myself i have everything i glance around and see this woman. ok, so in pure me form i didn't see her at first. i saw her shoes. must say, absolutely adorable and i give her props for wearing 3 inchers when dealing with airplane travel, especially ever since that idiot put explosives in shoes. seriously, i'm going to hurt that person. anyway, after i assess her accessories and outfit i look at her and am overcome with the "i know you from somewhere" feeling. this happens all the time. i'll remember faces but hell if i can peg where i know you from or what your name is. because of this i usually end up giving the poor quasi-unidentifiable individual much more attention than they probably prefer. no, i don't blatanly stare, but i will keep looking here and there in an attempt to solve the mystery of the familiar stranger. she was beautiful. sparse make up and just an all together casual look, and why not? she and her friends were probably on their way home after a fun, relaxing weekend in sin city. was she from a news channel? from home? school? some show? for the love of it all i couldn't figure out why i knew her. it wasn't until i was actually seated on the plane and started talking to this wonderful man (never caught his name, but i did learn about his lovely daughter, his past job as an animator with disney, and his plans for is trip to europe coming in april) that i figured out who this mystery woman was. upon sharing our occupations and various travel stories he asked how i liked L.A. and the surrounding arears. i answered honestly with it's not bad, but the mentality of some people in the area is a bit skewed. after that we started in on the actions and mentality and personas of celebrities in which he brought up "like the actress on the flight with us today." it clicked, it FINALLY clicked. it was jeri ryan from star trek voyager (as informed by my friend jayson, she played seven of nine). so there ya have it. no, i didn't rush her for a picture or an autograph, but it was kinda cool seeing someone who although isn't really a huge deal to me i know of a few boys out there who would've traded places with me very happily :) |
