There are times when I sit alone and cry, Imagining your arms holding me tight, Even if I could work up the courage and try, You wouldn’t be able to understand my plight. You touch my hand, heat sears my skin, Your ears are deaf to my painful sighs, Even when you see my tears and raise my chin, You miss the message in my eyes. You do not know what you do to me, How often I spare thoughts in your honor. I say I need you here, you say you will be, But you are far away, and in truth even farther. Her light blinds you, the girl you now hold, Though your arms are empty save the dream of her, She is taking the place of someone less bold, Someone who is vulnerable and insecure. If only your eyes would rest upon me and feel what I do,Then maybe I wouldn’t feel so alone in this world without you. But I cannot find it within myself to ruin your dream, Knowing you love her beyond what you could me.
