Acquaintances of the black dog
For those who have been diagnosed with any form of clinical depression or who are caregivers or otherwise involved with people who have been so diagnosed. The term "black dog" was used (maybe originated) by Winston Churchill who suffered from depression, as did (or do) many other very public people in history such as William Styron, Mike Wallace, Martin Luther (I'm convinced), Patty Duke, and too many others.

So don't yield to the fortunes You sometimes see as fate It may have a new perspective On a different day. And if you don't give up, and don't give in, You may just be okay. ~Rutherford/Robinson~ This is an excerpt from a favorite song of mine. It's taken a little bit out of context, but I use it as a reminder that perspectives can change, and what seems bleak one day may be shimmering with promise the next. -
