  • Theology Outside the Box

To those who take the belief/praxis dialectic seriously and have discovered thoughtful possibilities of connection outside the box. Suspicious of easy answers and serious about contextuality. Sees the illusion behind the surface level clichés and instinctively senses a deeper meaning between the lines. Weary of naive formulas and aware of the complex social, political, historical, philosophical, and theological implications. A Simple invitation is offered: Come let us reason together.

I have a BA degree in Architecture but presently work as a Christian missionary. I moved from New York to Ukraine in December 2001 and presently serve as a pastor/teacher in a small church fellowship in Simferopol. I believe it's important to be aware of world events now more than ever with respect to the prophecies written of old. I also enjoy writing songs and have three music CDs available. In 2005 I married a Ukrainian wife and we have two sons. For more information about our church, here's a link: http://www.simferopol.golgofa.com.ua/index.php?lang=en

This blog documents my encounters with God, how good He is to me, and how He guides my steps every day. Straight-out blunt facts and thoughts from my head -- there's no mask in here. Giving my all to become the Man of God He has designed me to be. Other things: 24, WM, Christian. I'm a diabetic (23 years) with Celiac disease (9 years) with a BS in CS from Rose-Hulman. Attending Gordon-Conwell TS for my MA in MaWE. Superpower: Giving myself cold-chills. Moderate video game addiction. Recently married. My heart resides in Japan.

I am hungry for God. My life and my relationships revolve around the Lord Jesus Christ and I consider myself to be his disciple. Stop by, read my blog, watch my videos, listen to my music, have a cup of coffee, and bless me with your comments.

I love to read but I realized that I retain very little of what I've read. That's the motivation behind this blog. This blog serves as my personal reading notes with occasional personal memos here and there of which my friends abroad can check from time to time to keep in touch. It might be hard to pinpoint my religious background/stand given my reading notes. I grew up in a family where one can find many religious beliefs ranging from Hindu to Catholicism and agnosticism. In short, I'd say that I'm very open-minded of non-Christian religions, and that I'm an ecumenical Christian, if such a term exists. I went to a rather Wesleyan Protestant private school as a kid, now to an Evangelical/Reformed church. Had some classes in Lutheran Neo-orthodox Systematics and Dominican philosophy & theology. I do not adhere to any denomination in particular. Having shared that, I hope it's now clear that I never intend to look down on any particular religious system or point of view.

I believe in Jesus Christ. Aside from that I like to ask questions on my site and find out what you think. I don't know it all (as much as I sometimes like to think I do). All topics are fair game. Civil debate is always welcome. Its how we all learn.
