  • Knowledge seeps in...

So, I am at this point where I am quite introverted, and don't actively seek out to socialize with others.  In school I am not making any big discoveries, but am taking every bit of knowledge in.  People have been commenting on how nerdy I am with my actions and the references I make, especially towards primatology and anthropomorphism...

Sheening is worried I might be more interested in primates than humans lately and would become someone like Diane Fossy or Jane Goodall...

Most of my time is just spent reading and doing statistics in the lab, trying to find correlation of how one action might be related to another.
One of my recent finding is in a mentoring relationship, positive feelings between a mentor and mentee are correlated.  It's not a ground breaking discovery, but it does strengthen school's funding for the mentorship programs.

My next study is on whether there is a difference in relationship quality if the mentor and mentees contacted in person, phone, or through texting/e-mailing.  None of these are too groundbreaking, now that I think of it.  However, it's comfortable sitting here analyzing all kinds of variables.

  • Food - Found them!

Ok...I suppose if there were a Christian God out there, and He/She/It wants to damn me eternally for a sin, gluttony must be the first.

It's rather difficult to locate Chinese dishes from restaurants since not many Chinese restaurants invests in websites.  Their strange articulation also adds to the difficulty.

I found 2 things that I want to eat in LA before I leave.
(Links will take you the restaurants' websites)

    #1
    Peking Duck

#2 (the most difficult, because there aren't that many places in Asia that you can find this one...let alone outside... )
蜜汁火腿 - I really don't think it's honey baked ham...well, Chinese ham, that is...

Both of these dishes have to be ordered in advance.  I'll be taking pictures...it really would last longer...

  • Cohort Effect

The things we are fighting so hard for, against the inequalities, discriminations, and forces that are against us because we are different or smaller in number, will one day be gone.  And the next generation will not even feel the difficulty that there once was.  I will not be resentful that we work so hard and the effort would not be acknowledged by the future generation.  I will be happy that we could leave behind a legacy that they would not feel the shame and go through the difficulties we are facing.  I will be proud that there would be no more reason to acknowledge them at all.

  • Comprehension

The more research and study I do, the more clear it is that any speculation I have about anything is incomplete.  It is as if I were one of the blind people from the blind people and the elephant story. (瞎子摸象) (7 blind people were meeting an elephant for the first time, and they started touching it with their hands.  One of them claimed the elephant looks like a fan as he was touching the ear.  Another claimed it looks like a trunk as she was touching the leg...and so on...)

I am greedy, I wish I could have all the understanding in the world to be able to view things more justly.  Even the researchers and the scientists are skewed from their own views.  In Industrial/Organization Psychology, there is this simple manipulation of the brightness level in the workspace that would affect the productivity.  In Fengshui, there is the same thing.  Different names for the same things, however, scientists "proved" fengshui is superstition. (I believe there is a function to the ancient knowledge, we just haven't discovered it yet.  Just like we have recently discovered anti-oxident and such in foods that keep us healthy, but it was deemed no nutritional value not long ago...)

Still, the knowledge out there is too vast, and I don't think I'll be able to get to them all...
