Summer Movies

So for my birthday, my mother in law gave me a huge movie gift certificate. Now I cam enjoy these summer movies!: (I put my reasons in parenthesis)

5/16 - The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (C.S. Lewis!)

5/22 - Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (The only thing that makes me sad is that some young people will think that Shia LaBeouf is the most famous person in the cast.)

5/23 - War, Inc. (This will fill my "independent" film quota of the summer.)

6/06 - Kung Fu Panda (Jack Black is already so crazy, I can't even imagine how crazy an animated version would be.)

6/06 - You Don't Mess with the Zohan (Everybody needs a bit of Adam Sandler!)

6/13 - THe Happening (I am a anti-fan of M. Night Shyamalan, so I am only watching this hyped up movie if it comes highly tomatoed)

6/13 - The Incredible Hulk (Another hulk? Well since the first one was really bad, statistically this one must be good, right?)

6/20 - Get Smart (He's perfect for this role. Plus Anne Hathaway!)

6/27 - Wanted (This looks really bad--like tomb raider bad. But just because it looks bad it might be good.)

6/27 - Wall-E (It's Pixar!)

7/02 - Hancock (I didn't watch I Am Legend, so I thought I would watch this one.)

7/04 - Diminished Capacity (It's Ferris Bueller in a serious role!)

7/11 - Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D (Just because Jules Verne is cool, but this could be really bad)

7/18 - The Dark Knight (If I saw Batman 1~4 and 1', how can I not watch Batman 2' ?)

7/25 - The X-Files: I Want to Believe (Is this the year of looooong overdue sequels?)

8/01 - The Mummy: Tomb of The Dragon Emperor (Normally I would pass, but I just want to know what Jet Li is doing in this movie!)

hold please

Is it just me, or is the hold music for most companies totally out of character?

I just called MTS systems, (here is their website) to get some part numbers for hydraulic pumps. These are machines we use to pull metals apart in our lab. They have enough power output to lift *or* crush a car and tear pieces of metal like it was paper.

So I am a bit taken aback when I am placed on hold by their cooperate line and hear the instrumental version of "a whole new world" from Aladdin. Now I don't know about you, but it is very strange to hear this music in between sentences of "Hello, I would like to purchase replacement filter elements for the following hydraulic pump units" and "Now do you want the high pressure filter or the cheaper return filter for that unit? the high pressure is about $1400"

What's new?

So,..

These past few days have been very, shall we say, cRAaZy. But it's all good.

I wish I had something very nice, profound and interesting to say, but I am drawing a blank after frying my brain overnight.

Although, I am *doing* something interesting. I am in the middle of translating my mom's book into English. Although people will try to argue with me on this, I am thoroughly convinced that everything you can say in Korean can be translated into English while preserving nearly 99% of the meaning. Of course, that doesn't mean that my translation of her book will be very good. I am not sure if she plans to publish it in the US, but I hope she has a good publisher in mind because the stuff she did will never fly in terms of US copyright issues. Many many quotes and borrowed images without proper MLA-style referencing. I am not sure how McGraw-Hill of Korea overlooked these issues.

By the way, the title of the book is "Life's Mathematical Design." Oh Joy. Go pick up a Korean copy for yourselves!

Last night I bought and installed
THIS

into Amy's 01' Hyundai Elantra. It was a bit difficult, mostly because it's a used car and the last owner messed some stuff up under the dash.

1. Crutchfield is awesome, although a bit pricey.
2. The unit is awesome! iPod integration has come a looooong way.

Give me your Wii/DS friend codes

I have a Wii. I've had it for a long time now. I managed to buy it during the Christmas rush at its launch, through some crazy fortune at Walmart involving one of my professors. I also have a DS, which I also managed to buy during a shortage though God's generous providence. If you don't know what a Wii or DS is, please crawl out of the cave towards the light. Light is the thing that makes you squint.

Anyway, the goal of this post is twofold.

1. Give me your Wii number, so Wii can be friends. Message me if you'd rather not post it here.
-I will post my Wii number when I get home.

2. What is your favorite VC game? I am playing Super Mario World for the first time in my life and I love it. (I went from NES to N64, skipping SNES.)
