I got a new pink duster today.  I also installed the new fission nano skimmer.  But I have to say that it is one of the biggest wastes of money EVER.  To put it bluntly the skimmer does not skim and that is it.  Anyway I also got a couple of dusters from a group buy but one of them did not have a tube so I took a little hang-on compartment and had my dad put some slits in it with his table saw. and hund it on the side with some sand in the box.  He seems relatively happy and is currently making a new tube for himself.  I put him in there because my shrimp are viscous and if they saw a worm in there they would totally go after it and eat it.

Anyway I am now looking into rearing some peppermint shrimp and later blood shrimp in order to offset the cost of this hobby.  And believe me that cost is high when you are a college student with no job.

Anyway here is a pic of the clown with his coco wormImage hosted by Photobucket.com

screw the last post!  I have decided to research building aquariums and build my own!    That way it can be exactly how I want it to be.  I dad has a table saw, router, drill press, and various other tools and he is an extensive wood worker so I think I might actually have a shot at this.  My dad makes stunning furniture for my family.  My aquarium is actually sitting on the night stand he built for me(my to his chagrin) because it was the only piece of furniture in my room I trusted to be able to hold the weight.  the only problem is that he is totally weighted down with other projects that my mom wants him to build.  Right now he is working on a chest of drawers for my parent's room and then after that he is building our new dining room table.  After that I am going to ask him to build a stand for my nano in the style of my night stands(which I expect that he will hate since my night stands have been the most difficult things he has built(probably because I designed it))

I have the utmost confidence in mine and his ability to build everything needed for the tank.  the only problem is time.

ok so it has been a while since I updated but here is what has happened plus a pic of my tank that really is not recent and is not the best pic but at least it is there.

so I have rearranged my rock twice(I finally really like it)
I have gotten a new clownfish named Paris
I have a new green and purple frogspawn
and I have a couple of new dusters

So I am kind of at a loss right now as to what I should do.  I don't really want to go whining about it on DFWMAS so I decided to whine about it on here.  my parents are giving me a check for 300 dollars plus the hundred I got this week from them(not sure why) so I will have about 400 after Christmas.(yeah I know I have a horrible life and feel the need to whine about it).  But that is not my problem.  My problem is what I should do with it(real bad thing right?).  I have a nano cube that is not 'all it can be' but at the same time it looks nice in my humble opinion but I could mod it out and make it totally awesome and keep more cool stuff in it like clams.  However I see all these really cool big aquariums and I am like "that is sooo cool" and I really want a big one, but 400 is not nearly enough for a big aquarium so I may just try and save up for a big aquarium.  Because I also want to start out with the best.  A good skimmer, metal halide, and I was even contemplating trying to have the tank itself custom made.  I love the look of the m-tank with no trim and the system completely in one place with no piping down to the sump.  I also like tall tanks with the 'reef-wall' look and lots of LR.

So I may go down the path of saving for a while however for she-who-has-no-job(meaning me) this might take a while.  It took me two years just to save for my nano cube.

ughhh I am so NOT a patient person.

Anyway this is a pic of my tank when it first began

and this a pic that was taken earlier this month a few days before the great feather duster massicre

the last picture is not what the tank looks like right now.  Like i said before I like the reef wall look so that is what it kind of look like right now.

I am so depressed right now... That GD flatworm exit is the DEVIL.  It might have taken a few days but I only have three out of my 14 dusters left.
