HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!

Sunday, September 16, 2007

I think I'm just about xanga-ed out, guys.  My school has xanga blocked, so I never have time to actually keep up with everyone anymore.  Anyway, I'll still be in and out, I'm sure.

Life is good for me, by the way.  I love my new job, even if it is challenging and I haven't quite gotten the hang of it yet.  I'll get there.

OK, so I've always been one of those annoying people who NEVER gets a ticket, regardless of bad driving.  That is, until these last two weeks.  In the last two weeks, I've gotten TWO tickets.

I know it's stupid.  It's my own fault, right?  If I had been going even close to the speed limit, I wouldn't be typing this now. But yeah, after two years of driving crazy fast to keep up with the traffic, the highway patrolmen have decided that they should teach me a lesson.

Until this incident, I have always supported officers and been curious as to why people feel so negatively about them.  The first one told me to stop crying, that it was only a ticket.  Um, hello...  let me steal $200 from your wallet and see how you feel.  The second one informed me that he did indeed know that I had already received a ticket.  Both were relative jerks.  I mean, they weren't horrible... but at the end, they still gave me tickets. So they are not on my friend list.  (I'm sure they'll be broken-hearted to hear that.)

This is all the cause of profiling.  They are PICKING ON ME because I'm blonde and drive a red bug.  Neither time that I was pulled over was I the fastest person on the immediate road, but I was an easy enough target, so why not?

I know, I know...  enough whining.  Back to work.

First Day Update

I just survived the first day of school.  THANK GOODNESS.  Honestly, it went better than I had expected...  both of my general music classes are awesome, and my Treble Choir (the lower choir) is filled with sweethearts.  The Select Choir (the varsity choir) is going to be a challenge because of all of my little divas I have in there.  I have a feeling this is going to be a rough first two weeks while they adapt to my expectations.

And then, there was my boys choir.  I currently have FOUR boys.  Of the four, three of them told me they were forced to be here because of scheduling conflicts.  None of them were in choir last year.  (Yes, that's right...  not a single male choir student from last year returned.)  Of the four, only two can match pitch and carry a tune.  And one has special needs.

...I am expected to compete with these boys.

Anyway, all things considered, today was great!

Operation Shock and Awe

OK, this is it.  Tomorrow is the big day... the first day of school.

PLEASE PRAY!  I'm a bit nervous.  One of my teacher friends told me I COULD NOT show fear, regardless of the circumstances.  We'll see how that goes!
