It was AWESOME! The BBC did a great job. I told Dave that it was pretty much like Tony Blair went and asked the BBC to make a show that would be great for the family. I thought it was a great job making a classic a modern show. An excellent job from the good 'ole Brits' BBC. All I can say is Bloody Brilliant Television mate.
On to another excellent topic.
CARS.
So ... I have been eyeing the FJ Cruiser for a while here. I love this vehicle. Following the same line of thought of Robin Hood (Classic -> Modern) the FJ Cruiser is a great remake of the 'ole FJ line. It meshes (and might I even add BEAUTIFULLY meshes) the FJ 40 and so on with a new car feel. AND it is reasonably priced. Fairly reasonably I guess. But ... on my trip down to AL a few weekends back ... my Uncle Richard asked me if I had every seen / thought about a Honda Element.
Chris --- I know you are happy. I said Honda ... and that is all it takes.
I digress. The Honda Element is quite an excellent little truckthing in its own right. A little downgrade in engine power. A (hushed gasps fall from the audience) 4 banger. BUT you know what the great thing about a 4 cyl. engine is? Gas mileage. And the Element is just a great little car. You can CAMP in the thing ... it is a true utility vehicle ... being very adaptable and just an all around, more money-for-your-dollar-spent great vehicle.
Anyway ... I just thought I would throw those few thoughts up.
Don't forget to check out Apple's site ... for all those great little teasings about Leopard, etc.
Well, I'm gonna call it a night.
Sleep well Internet-friend. Sleep well.

Friday, June 08, 2007

SO
The past couple of weeks have been pretty eventful. V and I made a trip down to see my family. Dad and Mom came up from FL ... and we all met in Birmingham, AL. One of my brother's (Doug) lives there. It was a good time. V and I also had our anniversary while we were down there. It has already been a year! I can't believe it ... it doesn't seem like that long at all. Time flies when you are having fun! lol.
After the AL trip, we went straight up to St. Louis for the rest of the week / weekend. The real reason that we had to go up there is b/c one of Vanessa's friends from High School was getting married. Congrats to Roger and Christina. It was a really great wedding. Something pretty funny happened to me @ the wedding. I was asked to be one of the two guys who does the aisle runner thingy for the bride ... well, I thought that it was going to be a simple task - quickly get the runner - quickly drag the thing down the aisle - and quickly take my nice comfy seat back where there were no eyes watching me. WELL ... I guess that the role of runner had a different idea in mind. That stupid runner wouldn't come unrolled. The other guy and myself really didn't know what to do ... it took us about 4-5 mins just to get the thing down the aisle. Meanwhile everyone was getting up / trying to see what was taking so long ... and then everyone started laughing ... and man-O-man ... I couldn't stop laughing either. Oh well ... it was pretty funny (one of those you-had-to-be-there things). On a more serious note ... our house is finally all the way done! Mike and I put in several hard days of work on a deck and some other stuff, and it is really coming together out there. I can't believe that we get to live there in not too long. It is a beautiful house, and the land it is on is amazing. There are no words to express how I feel. Well, this is getting to be a long post. I will take my leave on a funny note. I found this not too long ago in some video footage on a hard drive and figured I would throw it up on the Tube ... so here you go. Enjoy!

Thursday, May 24, 2007

Guys,

SO ... today has been an eventful day. Lotsa stuff happened. Some Good. Some Bad. Some Ugly. But all in all, not too bad. Tomorrow is the last day of school at Searcy. That is AWESOME!!!
And only a couple of months before we say goodbye, searcy ... and hello, missouri ...
Soo ... I thought you guys might like a laugh ..

OH yes.

You guessed it ...

the WHEEL OF FISH!!!!

Friday, May 18, 2007

So since I posted on here last, there have been some really good times, some sad times, and really funny times.
The KGE Beaux did a video that I thought was pretty funny. I will put it on here at the end of the post.
Dave and Brooke Condolora (that is cool to say (w/ the last name)) got hitched. Chris left for the summer (as well as a bunch of other friends). And goodbye, design 1.) recorded a whole session in the Reynolds and got some pretty good stuff 2.) played an awesome last show at the Warehouse and 3.) broke up b/c people moving / growing up.
SAD HAPPY SAD AWESOMELY HAPPY SAD were pretty much my emotions/feelings over the past few weeks. To be perfectly cliché life has been AN EMO RoLLer CoAstER.
But all in all ... to sum it all up ... a chapter of life coming to a close, and a new chapter beginning to open.
So that is all.
Oh and we are wanting to sell our iMac 17". Go to Facebook Marketplace to see. Or click here.
Here is the Beaux Vid

And here is goodbye, designREwIND (from the Reynolds Sessions)

discouraged with humanity

In the last few months of my life, I have been exposed to some different faces of humanity that I had not been aware of heretofore. (<--like the word?!?!?) I have been driving a bus for Searcy Public Schools (for those who don't know). Dave and I had a conversation the other day and the subject came up of the youth of this day and age (not the band) and how deplorable a lot of the kids are in this generation. There are other things that you observe while driving a bus as well. Not just the kids inside the bus, but the adults outside the bus. People are so inconsiderate, doltish and ignorant. Maybe it is just because I am in Arkansas. Who knows? ... Another event that commenced my meditation on this topic would be The Virginia Tech Massacre. What a senseless loss of life. A very heartbreaking event to be sure. There are not words enough to describe the happenings of that day. So I will not make an attempt at putting my feelings into words.
Then today something else happened (though not important at all as compared to the previous event) to tip the scales toward an explosion of ranting and raving. I had some camping gear in the back of my truck around 2 this afternoon. My truck was sitting at my house. I was going to take all this gear and put it in our storage shed on the way to church tonight, and some reprobate purloined all the gear out of my truckbed. OH SAD DAY!
Well,
All of this to say ...
I don't understand the patience of God. Humanity it seems at some times, is lost beyond recovery. Yet he loves us still. There are even more appalling matters happening over the entire globe. It seems that we don't deserve the Love of God, yet He gives it anyway, and freely I might add. I am glad of this. I wish I had one iota of the patience of God.
To end on a positive note:
There are so many blessings in my life. The one that comes to the forefront of my mind: my wife. She makes life worth living, and air worth breathing. Thanks to God for her.
Sorry to those who have made it this far in the post. I was in a strange mood tonight and felt like using the Dictionary / Thesaurus a little. Well, Good night Internet. Hope you have a sleepless night.
I won't.

Deas Vail

DEAS VAIL POST.
(this post is dedicated to Deas Vail)

So I have really been digging the new Deas Vail CD ... you should really check it out. Humans are obsessed with going fast. No matter what we are doing. Be it computing, or physically (and literally) flying by the seat of our pants. If we keep progressing at the rate we are, I can't wait to see where we are going to be in 100 years. Even 50. Man ... well, as promised ... here are those insane facts.

Humans entered the 19th century driving animal drawn vehicles @ 6 mph.
Humans entered the 20th century driving Steam Locomotives @ 60 mph.
Humans entered the 21st century driving Jets @ 600 mph.
What is next? ...

Well, @ NASA 600 mph is like sitting in a high chair eating baby food.
Humans are now test driving the X-43A with a SCRAMjet technology. This thing is FAST. And they haven't even started to tap the potential that the SCRAMjet engine is really capable of. It is THOUGHT that these things can reach somewhere around Mach 15! But back to what we are doing RIGHT NOW! We are only a few years into this century and we are already going (brace for this) 7,000 mph (Mach 9.6). The X-43A on Nov. 16th, 2004 broke the WORLD SPEED RECORD going Mach 9.6. THAT IS FREAKING CRAZY. Around Mach 6-7 you can get from L.A. CA to NYC, NY in 20-30 minutes. That just blows my mind. If you want to check it out ... here are a couple of sites, and a Pic.
Nasa X-43A
X-43A

So to recap:
Horses, etc. - 6mph
Trains - 60mph
Jets - 600mph
SCRAMjet - 7,000 mph.

Until next time ... all you guys keep it real.

Josh
