Prior to moving out on my own, I developed a big interest in cooking and learning how to cook. I deleted recordings of The Office and Heroes (yes, I kept them just in case I might want to watch them one day) on my DVR to make room for shows on the Food Network. I've become obsessed with Top Chef and Good Eats (and Jon and Kate Plus eight, but that's another blog). Alton Brown has become my best friend!
I wanted to be prepared/able to cook meals for myself and others. Alissa and I have been pretty good so far about not eating out so often, especially at fast food restaurants. So far, so good -- or should I say...delicious? :)
I've been cooking meals for the past month, but wasn't confident enough to take pictures and post them. Not because they don't taste good, but because they don't look that great. I've been working on taste more than making the food look good. I'm still a noob chef, give me a break.
Today's lunch was spam musubi and a glass of passion fruit green tea. Yum!

As I get better and perfect my recipes, I'll take more photos and posts some how-tos.
Mushroom burgers, baked chicken, salmon, stir-fry, spaghetti, sandwiches, udon noodle, and ramen are just some of the dishes I can remember cooking.
Cooking for myself has been pretty awesome. It's rewarding and fun to know exactly what you're putting into your body. Whenever I got to restaurants now, I always try to reverse engineer the food.
Till next time,
cheers!
