Stupid Is As Stupid Does

Ex-NFL star Vick files for bankruptcy

Wow, how stupid can you be that your hometown hobby, which you knew was illegal, costs you more than $100M in salary, bonuses, and endorsements. That hobby must have been a LOT of fun. But here is why his prison sentence and financial woes shouldn't be any surprise. His stupidity goes way back.

I have opportunities to marvel at the lower end of human potential much more often than the higher end, unfortunately. Sad, but in this case, hilarious!

Obama Belatedly Makes the Ask for Clinton

If I were a Democrat I would be angry. After just about *everyone* was telling her to give it up, she continued to campaign on, like Don Quixote. And since campaigning isn't cheap, after she outspent Obama but trailed behind him in donations, she ended up spending her own personal money to feed her massive ego that just couldn't accept that she had lost. And NOW she is asking people to help her repay HERSELF for her own delusional megalomania??? Tough shit. I hope nobody gives her one red cent.

Party Ponderings

I don't usually like people who party all the time. If someone is pursuing socializing and intoxication constantly it usually means he or she doesn't value or spend any time on the meaningful things in life. But this doesn't mean I don't party. I just do it for other reasons.

When I am alone too long I get depressed. There isn't much in this hard world that inspires me or gives me hope. Certainly people have let me down in my life and if I think really deeply I realize how much I have disappointed others and myself. So if this pensiveness begins to wear me down I have to take a break. I stop and focus not on my own happiness or lack thereof but rather on the happiness of others. Long ago I realized if I make an effort for someone else's benefit, my own problems fade into the background and I stop being depressed. If I believe in the beauty of other people, I begin to feel hope again.

So partying to me is reconnecting. It is a way to reset my perspective and renew my belief in man.

It is my daily mood that makes the weather. I possess tremendous power to make life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration; I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal...

If we treat people as they are, we make them worse. If we treat people as they ought to be, we help them become what they are capable of becoming.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

In other words, I like having friends and family around. Don't you?

Acceptable Racism

ilovelucy

Racism is bad. That's the lesson to be learned by reading all the news articles and editorials during this election campaign. People have been asked repeatedly now whether they would consider voting for a black man for president and for the most part people say yes. Polls and interviews reveal a majority of people say that race shouldn't matter at all in this election. But there is also research that shows people are far less racist in answering poll questions than they really are in life. This implies that racism is seen as something to be ashamed of. Privately people may still hold onto old biases and stereotypes and make decisions accordingly, so long as they can keep their racism a secret. But this isnt universal.

When discussing marriage I have found a great many people who are not only open abo
