I visited the encourager church this morning. It was nice. A real call to prayer and intercession on this church. It reminded me of my gifts. I was encouraged when I left. It was good to be in the presence of God.

I get a call asking if our neighbor is at our house...no she's not over here, why? Well she didn't answer the door and we're not sure where she is. He Mom works and she stays at home alone. She is responsible and has proven that she can whit out any problem. She's 11 years old. We walked over and used our spare key and walked through the house trying not to jump to conclusions. No Haley. I drove to the near by pool and asked around, showed her picture and nothing. We couldn't get into touch with her Mom because she was working on someone's heart in surgery ( she's a heart nurse) and got her voice mail. About 30 minutes into our search she pulls up with her mothers friend with a smile on her face but wondering what everyone was doing hanging out outside her home. She was babysitting. Her mother forgot that she was going to be picked up to babysit for a friend and didn't know why her daughter didn't pick up when she called to let her know she would be late.

What I learned; Some people freak out right away and jump to conclusions immediately.

Communication is so important. Just a simple phone call could have prevented a lot of worry.

We have a great neighborhood with some great caring people that live near us.

Ahhhhh....Spring Break

The perk to working for a school is having time off like Spring Break. It makes up for the small salary.

So far we have gone to the Rodeo Carnival. Hit the Galleria, spent alot of time out doors riding our bikes and watching some movies from blockbusters. Last night I watched Into the Wild. It was good. I was sorry that he didn't get a chance to go back home and work things out with his family. What a terrible way to go. There were some good messages in this movie.

Not what we're doing today. Maybe the beach? I hope the clouds go away though.

Sunday was very sweet at church for me. The whole family went. Joel was moved at the end and it was very sweet to be at church.

I started exercising a bit. It feels good to move. I'm watching my food intake also. I've been living in denial for a long time and I'm not getting any younger so I figure it's time to be responsible for my health.

Okay, well I'm going to get off my butt now and start the day.

I watched the movie ONCE yesterday with a friend. What a good movie. The tension of real relationships is powerful. They both were so genuine. I loved this movie yet it leaves you wondering, hoping. Like the last scene of the young lady looking out her window. Did she make the right decision? What if they would have moved to London together? Mother and all. And what was her response when he asked her if she loved her husband? Does anyone speak Czech? Don't you love that he bought her the piano!?

Dreamer asked me what my favorite Thai food restaurant is and favorite dish.

My favorite all time Thai food restaurant is in Hollywood, California. I haven't been there in years but I still remember it. I like the curry beef, panang beef and shrimp fried rice and the cucumber salad. I know, not too adventurous. It makes me hungry for it just thinking about it. When I went there most I was between 19 years old and 22. I was dating a guy that was 17 years older than me and he took me there. His name was Robert and was a very nice guy. Looking back, I'm so glad I didn't merry him like I thought I wanted to. We dated for over a year. My family of course thought I was nuts! The day I was going to be presented with an engagement ring I broke it off. I didn't know he was going to ask me to merry him and I never did see the ring. It was hard but it was the right thing to do. I broke his heart but the age difference was too big. I was way too young to get married too.

I met Ron about 3 1/2 years later. He's 8 years older. The age gap doesn't make too much of a difference. He's awesome and so glad to know him. We just celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary!

A Holiday concert At the Villa De Matel

This is a memo from the Parker Elementary School Choir teacher,

We had two spectacular evenings at the Villa De Matel! The singing was superb! I had so many people from the audience coming up to me expressing their amazement with your performance! People said that they had tears on their eyes when Advanced Chorus sang “Oseh Shalom” and “A Child Was Born”, their hearts were overflowed with joy listening to the “Bell Carol” and “It’s the Most Wonderful Time”; they wanted to jump off their seats during “Go Where I Send Thee”. I also received lots of compliments about Advanced Chorus wonderful artistic expressions while singing and exemplary behavior while not performing. I felt so happy and so proud! You are the best! The Saturday concert was recorded by Houston Public Radio, KUHF 88.7 and will be broadcast several times this year and the years to come.

Congratulations, everybody! You gave a great start for the Holiday season for so many people! You also made the entire Parker School proud! I am honored to be your teacher.

We had a wonderful time. The kids did an amazing job. The Houston Chamber Choir is always incredible too. I wish you all could have been there.

It was very nice to be in that Chapel once again!

I finally have my computer going at home again!

Ahhh, the season is changing

The day started so nicely with a fresh breeze and clear skies. I worked hard in the yard trimming bushes that are way over grown. My arms are soar today! After about a few hours of hard work I decided to pack up the van and take a drive to the beach. Ron stayed behind working on the kitchen (he rode his motorcycle to the beach early in the morning). We got to the beach at 5:00P.M. and loved the 2 hours we spent there. The girls built a sand castle. We walked up and down the beach and looked for shells. We fed the sea gulls vegetable chips we picked up from whole foods. It was magical watching the girls enjoying themselves. Just being there with the breeze and sun, the sound of the waves and seeing other people that broke away to enjoy a bit of fun in the sun was great.

These are the "before" pictures.

We're keeping the fridge but getting a new range.

The third picture shows how small our old pantry was. The second picture shows a cabinet that we pulled out. The last picture shows our new dishwasher. Everything else is different. I'll download new "After" pictures soon.

So far our new counter tops in! After three weeks or so of waiting we have them tonight to enjoy. Well, it takes 24 hours before we can hook up the sink and lean on them. We chose silestone. They look good. We have wanted to remodel our kitchen since we first moved into this house . It's been almost 12 years. The new cabinets are in too. Things are coming together. Thankfully Ron does very well with drywall work, electrical, paint, plumbing and genreally anything with his hands. We have saved a bunch of money by doing a lot of the labor ourselves. Correction, himself!

Next comes floors, lighting, hardware and backslpash. Ron's doing all of this too. I ook forward to seeing it all finished. Should be complete by Thanksgiving! Yeah Ron!!

I really like my new boss. He's nice and that's a great change.

I'm looking forward to a new school year. The kids that I know will be older and starting a new grade level. I want to see who's gotten taller or more grown up over summer. It's also neat to see all the new comers.

One week to go until the first day of school.

I hope hurricane Dean ends up fizzling out!
