Hah! The fates sure are jokers, those crazy guys. I might have MS after all. I hope I get to the point of not caring soon.

Figured it was time to try something different. I'm going back to uni this year. Exciting and all as endless rounds of numbers on a screen are, my last job just wasn't cutting it for me. Not having to worry about someone else's idea of what I should be doing with my time has been very refreshing these last few months.

Well it seems for once the fates have decided to give me a half-hearted break, and my neurologist thinks it is unlikely I have MS. This is due to lack of clear evidence for MS-related lesions on my MRI's. Given my long history of strict vegetarianism, it's probably B12 that is causing my brain and spinal cord to slowly become damaged, making my optic nerve go bad, my legs go weak, and my hands and feet go tingly. Fortunately this is able to be halted and it's likely I may even experience some improvement in my symptoms. Full recovery is unlikely due to the lenght of time before I started intramuscular B12.

That's not all however though. It seems I have a combination of slight scoliosis and Scheuermann's Disease. While the latter is not currently active (usually becomes mild when one reaches adult years) it predisposes me to Schmorl's nodes, which are herniations in the discs of the spine that can press into adjacent tissue, including soft vertebral body, muscle, tendons and the spinal cord. And I can report that this causes a lot of pain.

The neurologist I saw this week is certain that I have damage to my spinal cord, from one of two causes. MS or chronic B12 insufficiency from malabsorption. My presentation is typical for both of these, so it is now a matter of more scans, blood tests and injections to determine what exactly is wrong. I feel less like a human and more like some sort of experiment.

I have optic neuritis again. FFS. Twice in three months is not a good prognostic indicator for not having MS. Not to mention the fact that my legs are becoming unreliable.
