Guilty... of the ultimate sin of not blogging... Did I see right that it's been about 3 months since I posted anything?

But today I have a story worth posting

We see many interesting names, places, and orders in this business... Today we had a great one, made even more exciting by a tight time frame. 40 flags (of which we had 4 in stock) to Frito-Lay in WV, expedited 3-Day shipping. First I called the customer and navigated successfully through Frito-Lay's automated phone system. The customer assured me the (somewhat odd) address was completely valid, that UPS delivered there every day.

Then to call our vendor for these flags, hoping that they would have enough in stock. I got a very kind lady on the phone, and she took my order. I stressed that we needed 40 of these flags, and did they have that many in stock? Oh yes, she replied, we have 47 of these. Whew...

The order successfully placed and 3-Day shipping promised, I took a deep breath. What an exciting way to start the morning!

Wow, time zips by! Dave and I are counting down to our 1 YEAR anniversary. This week - this month - has flown away, and it's less than a week before we leave for England. Older, wiser readers, does life ever stop being crazy? Based on my 25 years of experience, I'm guessing that the answer is, "Not really..."

Once again, we are surrounded by weddings. In another few months, it will be babies again. Not necessarily directly related! Weddings, babies, weddings, babies - they seem to come in clusters. I am still finishing up 2 baby blankets - the last of this group of 6? 8? A lot of blankets! And I know a woman getting married each of the next 3 weekends. Congratulations to Diana, Judy, and Kathy!

There have been some really tough things in this past 12 months. Some really good things too... like getting married :) Dave has been my strong partner, and God has continued to be faithful. There is a lot of truth in that old saying - "I don't know what the future holds... but I know Who holds the future."

Enough ramblings for now - time to get busy before the vacation!

As I stepped out of the store today on my way home for lunch, I was struck not only by the heat, but by a sense of otherworldliness. The cars zipping past a few yards away somehow seemed so distant and hazy. I wonder if perhaps I associate this dry, windy heat with family vacations, long car rides, and somewhat surreal stops at baking, windblown rest stops and tourist centers. Memories of little wispy blonde girls and ridiculous shades and styles, and the big grins captured in many photographs...

Trying to craft a good entry often makes me think of Odyssey. Not THE Odyssey - I mean Adventures in Odyssey. As in, "Hastily he... it reads better"

And in boring daily news, I went to the blood specialist today, and everything is much the same. I'll see him again in a couple months. It was such a short appointment that I got to work at the usual time :) In terms of the actual number of minutes I see a doctor, I figured it is at least $1/minute, if not higher - and my co-pay is only $15! Gotta love it...

Today is Dave's and my 11-month "anniversary". When I came home for lunch today, I was surprised and delighted to see a pretty bouquet of lilies on the table.

"When did you get those?" I asked Dave. "When I was out getting the oil changed in the car," my wonderful husband replied.

He takes such good care of me!

I read an article today where a young woman about to be married was wondering if being a "stay at home wife" even before kids was an acceptable lifestyle. How she described it sounds just perfect to me :)

"I can envision myself tending to my home and garden, helping out with volunteer work at church, doing some sewing and other crafts, and maybe getting a part-time job."

And right now, I really empathize with her concerns.

"I'm worried that with a full-time career I would arrive home at the same time as my husband at the end of each day, tired and worn out, and that I would be lacking in energy to then tend to my home and cook meals (although if we were in that situation I'm sure my husband would help out)."

Thankfully, my husband helps out A LOT - he is the best :)
