| I need to start anew. http://memyselfandelana.blogspot.com/ Enjoy. B'ahava, Elana | | |
| Hellooooooo world. I'm doing pretty good on this updating thing, right?! Saturday was fun; Seth and I went out for awhile and did lots of things, including seeing Shrek the Third! It was so cute! Sunday I worked, and it wasn't all that bad...then again, I only worked for four hours... Monday I started my Anatomy and Physiology class at CCAC. It's four weeks long and goes from 9-3 Monday through Thursday! Bleh... Kim, my roommate from freshmen year (oooh how I adore her!), is in the class, and it's a good thing too! It's nice having someone else to be completely lost with...haha...but for real, the class isn't all that bad. It's just tedious and somewhat boring right now. I think once we start actual systems I'll be more interested, but right now we're just learning about tissues.......I know, SO boring! Kim and I have met a couple of nice people (I mean, the class only has 15 people in it), but we mainly just keep to ourselves. I just need to focus on the work! Our professor is nice; he's the one who registered me in...April, was it? I've been keeping a list of his funny quotes, and I'll put them on here at the end of the four weeks! He's pretty funny...even when he doesn't mean to be. Nothing else has been going on, really. OH, Dominika (Lewis' sister-in-law) had her baby! It's a little boy...Charlie..and I think I may seem him either today or tomorrow. I saw a picture and he's just so precious! I'm so happy for her. I promised myself I wasn't going to nap today...but I may need to lay down for a few minutes (read: hours). Haha, I'll try to keep it short..I do have stuff to do!! B'ahava, Elana | | |
| So I've officially worked three days at EnP now, and I guess it's getting better. I was kept an extra hour on Thursday night, and...well, I know what you're thinking: more money, right? Well, sure..but I was so tired, and working six hours straight wasn't exactly the best of times. But afterwards, Elysa, Adam, and I went out to...oh wait, that's right...ANOTHER EnP, and it made everything better! I love those guys. Lewis is at a convention in Columbus, Ohio today...I'm sure he's having a good time! I don't work today, so I'm taking the time to relax...seeing as this is the first day of summer where I haven't worked! My cold seems to be gone; that's always a good thing. I'm going out tonight with my friend Seth for a bit...it should be a good time! Nothing else to really update on...it's beautiful out, and that makes me happy!! B'ahava, Elana | | |
| So I got my grades in...*drumroll please*... 3.6! Haha "A"s in Women and Health Care, Environmental Health, and Health Education. "B"s in Elementary Stats and Feminist Perspectives in the Disciplines. Yesssss. AND, I'm still maintaining a 4.0 within my major!! That makes me so happy... Anyway. Yesterday was my first day working at Eat n Park. Well, I'm a greeter...and it's not exactly the most engaging job..and it's kind of boring...but I don't know what else I could do right now. It's money, right? *sigh* I just don't want to be bored like I was all last summer. Hopefully things get better! At least the people are nice... Erin comes home next Saturday! Can't wait. I guess that's all for now...more later! B'ahava, Elana | | |
| I liked this: DID WE WONDER WHO HAS THE LOWEST IQ? Report published Monday, by the Lovenstein Institute of Scranton, Pennsylvania, detailed its findings of a four month study of the intelligence quotient of President George W. Bush. Since 1973, the Lovenstein Institute has published its research to the educational community on each new president, which includes the famous "IQ" report among others. There have been twelve presidents over the past 50 years, from F.D. Roosevelt to G.W. Bush, who were rated based on scholarly achievements: Writings that they produced without aid of staff, their ability to speak with clarity, and several other psychological factors, which were then scored using the Swanson/Crain System of intelligence ranking.
The study determined the following IQs of each president as accurate to within five percentage points. \ In order by presidential term:
Franklin Delano Roosevelt [D] 142, Harry S Truman [D] 132, Dwight David Eisenhower [R] 122 John Fitzgerald Kennedy [D] 174, Lyndon Baines Johnson [D] 126, Richard Milhous Nixon [R] 155, Gerald R. Ford [R] 121, James Earle Carter [D] 175, Ronald Wilson Reagan [R] 105 George Herbert Walker Bush [R] 98, William Jefferson Clinton [D] 182,
George Walker Bush [R] 91
In order of IQ rating:
182 . . William Jefferson Clinton [D] 175 . . James Earle Carter [D] 174 . . John Fitzgerald Kennedy [D]
155 . . Richard Milhous Nixon [R]
147 . . Franklin Delano Roosevelt [D]
132 . . Harry S Truman [D]
126 . . Lyndon Baines Johnson [D]
122 . . Dwight David Eisenhower [R]
121 . . Gerald R. Ford [R] 105 . . Ronald Wilson Reagan [R] 098 . . George Herbert Walker Bush [R] 091 . . George Walker Bush [R] The six Republican presidents of the past 50 years had an average IQ of 115.5, with President Nixon having the highest at 155. President George W. Bush rated the lowest of all the Republicans with an IQ of 91. The six Democratic presidents of the past 50 years had an average IQ of 156, with President Clinton having the highest IQ, at 182. President Lyndon B. Johnson was rated the lowest of all the Democrats with an IQ of 126.
No president other than Carter [D] has released his actual IQ (176). Note the institute measured him at 175. Among comments made concerning the specific testing of President G.W. Bush, his low ratings are due to his apparently difficult command of the English language in public statements, his limited use of vocabulary [6,500 words for Bush versus an average of 11,000 words for other presidents], his lack of scholarly achievements other than a basic MBA, and an absence of any body of work which could be studied on an intellectual basis.
The complete report documents the methods and procedures used to arrive at these ratings, including depth of sentence structure and voice stress confidence analysis. "All the Presidents prior to George W. Bush had a least one book under their belt, and most had written several white papers during their education or early careers. Not so with President Bush," Dr. Lovenstein said. "He has no published works or writings, which made it more difficult to arrive at an assessment. We relied more heavily on transcripts of his unscripted public speaking." The Lovenstein Institute of Scranton, Pennsylvania think tank includes high caliber historians, psychiatrists, sociologists, scientists in human behavior, and psychologists. Among their ranks are Dr. Werner R.Lovenstein, world-renowned sociologist, and Professor Patricia F. Dilliams, a world-respected psychiatrist.
