The Final Stretch

Ah, the end of the semester is coming up soon and classes are being dropped left and right.  I had like two or three walks last week and it was great!  So far I don't have any class at all for this Friday, which means I have a three day weekend!

So tonight, the FBI mentors will be playing dodgeball at G. Rollie!  I'm so stoked.  I'm hoping that everything goes well because I'm the one who's in charge of it.  It should be uber fun.  Also, I found out that I'll finally be able to play in our indoor soccer team because they scheduled the game on thursday this time and not on wednesday.  I played the other day when I was in Lubbock and loved it!  It's a lot better when you don't have a huge field to run back and forth from.

Lubbock Trip

I went to Lubbock this past weekend to see some old friends from high school.  I completely forgot how long of a drive it was to get up there (about 7 hours if you make only one stop).  I also forgot how completely ugly Lubbock was.  I guess I've gotten spoiled to the beauty of East Texas.

So of course the Aggies got thumped.  I've just about given up on them for this season.  I think we're gonna end up being 5-6 for the season which sucks because after last year I thought we would actually go somewhere.  I was also reminded of how much I hate Texas Tech because their fans are so annoying.  At least when we thump someone we try to give them dignity.  It's not like we've ever tried to stuff the goal posts in our own fan section.

Overall the trip was great even though my living accomodations were pretty bad.  My friend Nat, whom I stayed with, had some really interesting roomates.  Both nights I was there, their roomates had parties that started at two.  I heard some really interesting noises to say the least.  I won't get into what I heard because that would make this xanga entry not pg-13...  Anyways, he's moving out next month so things should be going well for him there on after.

Wow, it's amazing what codene and a tired body will do to your concentration...  I was sitting at my FBI meeting tonight trying my hardest to focus but to no avail.  Normally I'm pretty engaged in our meetings but tonight the drugs won the battle in my head.  I'll probably need reminding on most stuff announced...  I also didn't say much because it was one of those feelings when you're so out of it that you're afraid of what you'll say...

By the way, if you didn't know I got my wisdom teeth taken out last Friday and I'm still recovering from that!  The whole procedure wasn't all that bad and neither was the recovery.  In fact, I kinda cheated and went ahead and at solid foods the same day I got my wisdom teeth out.  I was so hungry because there's no way I could eat enough mash potatoes and apple sauce to fill me up!  I'm just praying right now that I don't get any dry sockets because I hear that they hurt a whole lot!

I finally heard back from Sewell today, which is one of the companies that I was really interested in working for.  It was one of those really nice written, "You're great and everything but..." kinda letters.  It all sounds good till you get to the but part of the letter.  It's alright though because I've got some other job opportunities lined pretty soon.

Man, last night was something else.  I was at work from 8:45 pm - 12:26 am and reffed a total of three games.  They told me that the play-offs would be really intense and emotional but I never dreamed of how bad it would get.  The very last game I decided to white hat, which means I'm the head official who announces the downs and what not.  The game didn't even reach half-time and there were already two people who were in danger of being kicked out because of unsportsmanlike conduct.  What was even better was the fact that a current ref was on one of the teams and thought that it would be good to give me advice about how to do my job.  If you're a ref then you know that it's common courtesy not to do that on the field because imagine other people seeing a player telling a head ref what to do.  I made me mad too because the things she told me to do, I was already doing...

Anyway, had to vent that out.  The 'Stros lost again and so they're behind in the series 0-3.  They're probably gonna lose again tonight because if Oswalt and Pettite couldn't win a game then Backe probably won't be able to either.  I know that Lindsey can't wait till the series is over not because she hates baseball but because they interrupt her favorite TV shows like House and the Gilmore Girls.  She trying to get me hooked on those shows but I don't even get what Gilmore Girls is about.  Isn't there enough drama in the world?

The hump has already been crossed over.  Right now I'm halfway through the semester and the thought of that completely psyches me out.  Really the only things that I do now is FBI, flag football and what's necessary to make a good grade in class.

Speaking of FBI, a lot of things are gonna be changing with the FBI.  As of last week half the board members left the group because of sudden changes that the faculty decided on.  They made these changes without even telling the board.  Dr. Loudder, the faculty member in charge of FBI, didn't feel that the board needed to know because she's the one who has the final say in the matter; however, she's been passive and in the background of everything FBI related for the past two years.  Suddenly, she decides to show up so that she can tell us that everything we know about FBI will be changed.  Now, half the board is gone because even though we all support change the way it's been happening has been very poorly done.  I guess this has been the hot topic of my life because it's what I spend most of my time doing.

Work is going pretty well.  Tonight I have to work from 8:45 till midnight because it's playoffs now.  I don't really like the late hours but at least that'll give me some time to do some stuff during the day like finally buying groceries.  I worked with some really good refs last night.  Typically I work with refs who aren't quite sure about the rules but will argue their point.  I can't stand it when people can't make up their mind on stuff they aren't quite sure of anyways.  I'm getting better but I still have a lot of polishing up to do on my rule knowledge.
