First Halloween

So, we've become those parents.  He won't remember this Halloween, he doesn't know about candy, and even if he did he'd be too young to eat it, but we dressed him up anyway.  He was a super cute dinosaur.  A super, super cute dinosaur.

Finally, those of you who are prudish, look away.  The boy's about to be naked - and noisy!

Eamon Day!!!

As the title suggests, I've got media!  The little boy gets funnier everyday.  He talks to me the whole way to and from daycare everyday (sounds much like a creaky door, but I'm sure it means something to him).  He's so excited to be almost crawling that he occasionally gets up on his knees, then pushes up to his tiptoes into a beautiful downward facing dog before face planting on the carpet.  He loves sweet potatoes, and thinks that oatmeal may just be the next best thing to breastmilk.  We really do love him.  Anyhoo, on to the AV presentation.

Osh Kosh on the couch.  Gotta love the Goodwill.  His entire outfit cost two bucks.

Hands and knees.  Gotta be on my hands and knees!!

Grandmom McGinley got him an early Halloween present.  He LOVES it.  Too bad babies aren't supposed to spend more than 15 minutes at a time in it....

Eagles proud, lovin' the real food.

He loves playing on the carpet.  We lay out a blanket for him, but there's no way of ensuring that he'll stay on it.

And, we finally caught the laugh on tape.  You have to listen carefully, but it's there.

Big Friday Night

So, it's Friday.  I just finished a week with three exams (one of which I know I passed - SCORE!), and Mike and I had planned to continue our tradition of Friday night pizza.  So why am I blogging instead of fattening up for the long winter ahead while eating pizza and watching a movie with my man?  I'll tell you.

Mike had to go to Kansas City, MO (does anyone else hear songs from the musical Oklahoma! every time they say that?) for work yesterday.  Originally it had been planned that it would be a fly in, fly out one day trip, but he wasn't able to get any flights back to Lansing last night.  Sooooo....he flew from Kansas City to Chicago (O'Hare) to connect with a flight to Lansing at 1:20pm today.  That flight was delayed.  And delayed.  And delayed until 3:30.  At about 3:20, they announced that it had been canceled, leaving all the passengers from that fully booked flight to find other transportation.

Mike rushed to get to the customer "service" line, but was still about 80 people back, so had quite a wait before he even got to talk to anyone about his options.  He finally got up to the counter and was put on a flight to Detroit scheduled to leave Chicago at 6:40 (CST), arriving at Detroit at apx 8:00 (EST).  He just called a few minutes ago to say that the later flight has now been delayed, and he's not due to land in Detroit until almost 10:00.  He's renting a car in Detroit when he lands and driving to the Lansing airport to pick up his car.  Good times.

While all this has gone on, I've been lying on the couch.  My stomach has been growling for the last hour or so, but I just can't work up the oomph to go to the kitchen and make myself something.  I was really looking forward to that pizza, and I don't want it if I can't share it with Mike.  That, and I'm lazy and don't feel like calling a pizza place to have them deliver.

The real kickers to this story:

1.  Mike had to check his luggage - he carries with him a razor (horrors!!) and contact lens solution (over 3 oz, can't take it on the plane).  His bag will not be traveling to Detroit.  Oh, no.  He'll have to go to Lansing airport tomorrow and pick it up there.  Thanks a lot, London!  If you hadn't gone and gotten yourself all threatened, he wouldn't be in this bag mess.

2.  The reason all those flights delayed in CHICAGO???  Wind.

Reasons Michigan is Weird

  1. Flat, flat, flat, flat, flat!!!
  2. The state is in two pieces....really, other than a state made up of islands, where does that make sense?
  3. Ummm, hi, 12th of October?  Yeah, just thought I'd tell you it's not really time to SNOW ALL DAY LONG yet.
