The Sorrows of an American: A Novel

in the past 3 years

I would delete this blog, but it's such a great snapshot at the spaz I was not so long ago.
Happily married living in northern manhattan, with a 2 year old siamese cat.
almost finished a MFA at City college, CUNY, and working at barnes and noble.
i now know more about the publishing world that i ever thought i would. and still am learning more every...day...?

have dove into baking! and cooking- the two things that calm me down.
hard to believe that i was 20 not so long ago (i'm 26) and i sound like a little kid, which is what 20 really is. my sister is turning 21 in a few months, and not so long ago she was 13, 10, 5...born...

glad i checked in. perspective on time passed.

in the meantime

since last time-

got married on june 18th in a wonderful backyard wedding in philadelphia

so i've spent a quiet summer adjusting to my wonderful, lover, best friend, roomate all rolled into one while sharing a tiny apartment.

working a lot downtown-
however mostly quiet-
been doing a lot of reading.

school on the 28!
woohoo!

actually mixed feelings-
i finally figured what i want to do
art librariansim- and well i don't know how to get into it

which means i'll be doing a lot work/research on it all

gotta finish packing up for our vacation at the jersey shore

not so long to go

one month and about 3 weeks to go...then i'm married
june 18th.
in my in laws backyard.
i sorta have a dress
invites are going out now.

school is almost over- may 17.
and i did get a job at tutor.com
i'm a paid intern for client services
all in all- things have just evened out.

mordy and i even went to bg for pesach and spent a week in IL- 3 days in west rogers park 4 days at home.

so now there is just this expectant lull of things about to happen.
ending of school
rush of wedding
moving
buying of things need to make a home
i've even ear marked pages in ikea- yes i have found things in there i even like.
shocking

at the moment i'm trying to get over a cold...one of several i've had in the last few weeks.
took a clortrimaton this morning and conked out for four hours instead of doing work.
also as soon as we move- CAT! i can get a cat.
i' m a little excited.
weee!

since then...(dot dot dot)

Been busy. sorta.
well for starters i'm procrastinating badly. I have a 5 page paper due at 5pm. and it's 1am-ish. and i don't have that much extra time since i and a fellow student are meeting lyn hijian to escort her to the reading she's doing at ccny.

since last time:

applied for jobs-interviews!
had two.
and well they haven't called back and they said they would. which makes me pissed.
so i will be calling places soon
HIR and tutor.com
both cool, if i'm hired at either place.

school is school.
mostly just tooting along.
wedding plans are coming along.
have a place, caterer, dress, flower girls, maid of honor, best man,
what needs to be done are -flowers, photographer, invitations, band, chuppah.

and the color of the day is: Champagne.
pink but not really. white but not white.

gah.

i've had some conversations which have left me numb...
like an old friend insinuating that i'm not frum...which leaves me more than miffed.
'do they have kallah classes in nyc?' oh boy.

and meeting various ppl to find an apartment that will be safe and nice.
i'm mostly worried about staying alive-ie no muggings or threats, being safe, and being comfortable as in being able to walk to my local bodega at 12am as i can do now.

so.
that is my life as of right now.
very excited to get my own cat!!
did get a free rug off of craigslist....big frickin whoop.

paper time....hammer time...paper time...
Hammer time!!!!

not so completely boring

this past sunday i went down to the bowery poetry club
saw, met and talked to PAUL AUSTER

it really was the best thing ever

he read from his new book brooklyn follies, spoke of his writing process, read from some other things
answered questions

it was pretty damn cool

have started new semester
what did for v day? visited him at pizza place while he worked i watched
and then i went home to sleep/read

so life in most words is pretty damn boring.
waiting to hear back from starbucks...
for the second time.
this time i'm keeping my phone on and on vibrate forever more

btw
what is UP WITH the m101/m100 bus only going to 161?!
i can't get home via bus and man it's annoying
it's supposed to go to 181.
rrrrrrrr
