I've become obsessed with the Club Kids. Not in a weird, freaky kind of way, but I really just can't quench my thirst for information about them.

Warning: this is gruesome... If you don't know, they're a group of people, early-mid 20s, who were, in essence..drag queens. They made up these elaborate costumes, which usually took 2-3 hours to put on, never wearing the same one twice. They ruled the New York night life in the 80s-90s. They were kind of into the whole..celebrity for the sake of celebrity idea. They wanted to be famous. Even though they did nothing. They insisted they were famous and ended up a huge phemonenon, doing talk shows..what have you. Eventually they all got into drugs, and their lives were a kind of downward spiral. The most popular of them was Michael Alig, who ended up murdering his drug dealer. They stuck the body in their bath tub, and eventually when they got disgusting, they got completely wasted and dismembered the guy and out him in a box, and set it in their living room. I'll leave the rest to you if you want to find out more.

There's been a movie and a book. The original book was written by James St. James, one of the Club Kids, and was called Disco Bloodbath and the movie is called "Party Monsters"...and the book is being re-released under the same title to coincide with the movie.

no more protectedness....for now.
